Central air systems: Why it's time to install one in your home
Installing central air systems in Atlanta
By Melissa Willets
If you have survived a hot Atlanta summer without the help of the central air systems your neighbors and friends enjoy, you deserve a medal! In fact, the word "hot" doesn't even begin to describe what you will endure from May through October if you are an Atlanta-area resident. Air conditioning can be your best friend on these brutal, humid days (and nights), so if you have been considering installing a home cooling system, stop considering and start doing!
Stop sweating and dial
Your first step is to get some estimates from local HVAC specialists. It's a good idea to get at least three estimates, and it can also be advisable to ask for references, too. Ask questions about how to save on installation. For example, if you forego putting vents in small spaces like a powder room or a walk-in closet, will this lessen your out-of-pocket? Also find out what kind of timeframe you are dealing with for the installation process so you know what to expect and can plan accordingly.
Keep your cool
Just try not to pass out from a combination of the heat and hearing the cost to install that coveted A/C. Central air systems can be expensive, but just remember that you are making an investment, both in your sanity and in the value of your home for resale purposes. And just think about what your life will be like if you finally pull the trigger on installing that A/C you've dreamed about for years. Aren't you sick of looking at (nevermind hearing) those ugly window cooling units? Nevermind that you have to lug them in and out of storage twice per year and properly insulate your windows...what a hassle! And let's face it: Window units aren't nearly as efficient as central air.
