This fall's Atlanta Home Show, taking place September 21 to 23, 2012 at the Cobb Galleria, is a great chance to get new ideas and scope out potential vendors and products for your landscaping ambitions, just in time for peak fall planting. Get your creative juices flowing by checking out the host of exhibits and seminars that are available.

Vendors: The majority of the show room is dedicated to vendor booths that represent a wide spectrum of products and services. This is a great chance for you to compare a whole host of options side-by-side and ask as many questions as you want of knowledgeable representatives without having to wait or be pressured to buy anything.

  • Products: Several of the vendors are representatives from product manufacturers, which allows you the chance to view product samples and ask questions directly to the manufacturer. By the end of the day you'll know a lot more about all the latest products as well as the top manufacturers of more traditional products and materials.
  • Services: A larger percentage of the booths are contractors. This is great if you have a particular project you're contemplating but haven't yet begun work. You can talk with several different service providers over the course of the day. Ask questions about the services they offer, pick their brains about any projects you may have in mind and even set up appointments for consultations and estimates for after the show.
  • Discounts, samples and giveaways: Most vendors offer special Home Show discounts if you give them your contact information at the show. If you've got a large landscaping project in mind for this fall, you can possibly save yourself hundreds of dollars just by contacting contractors through their Home Show booths. You can also walk away with brochures and samples of any products you are considering using, so you will be more knowledgeable and prepared as your project gets underway.

Seminars: Seminars also take place throughout the Show and are often surprisingly informative as well. Learn planting and do-it-yourself tips and gain insight into everything from the latest landscaping trends to the most traditional approaches and options. Landscaping-related speakers this year include Walter Reeves, John Gidding and Joe Washington. Seminars are typically upbeat, insightful, fun and include more giveaways! Some offer Q&A sessions at the end, but even if they don't, the speakers will usually stick around after the seminar has ended to talk one-on-one with audience members.

The Atlanta Home Show promises a fun and informative weekend, whether you are in the midst of a landscaping project, just beginning to develop your ideas or simply want to see what your options might be.
