Window sills are one of the most overlooked areas of the home. Whether they’re clean and shiny or crusty and grimy, they can truly affect your home’s perceived value. These areas are a graveyard for dust, dirt, cobwebs and bugs, and they need regular cleanings to keep them in pristine condition. Same goes for your blinds and other window treatments. Just use your vacuum or a damp cloth to clean those and you’ll really give your home interior a boost.
Inspect your roof for needed repairs.
After a long, harsh winter, your roof may be in need of a little TLC. Common problems include chipped, curling or missing shingles… and each should be identified and corrected as soon as possible. Damaged shingles can lead to serious leaks which can cause thousands of dollars in damage to the interior of your home. Getting on your roof to perform an inspection can be dangerous, so contact a professional roofer or use binoculars to conduct a visual inspection from the ground. And if you’re thinking about getting new shingles, watch this video.
Mulch your flowerbeds.
A well-mulched flower bed can add to your home’s curb appeal. (And we know you have your sights set on “Yard of the Month,” don’t you?) So apply mulch now to help ward off weeds and keep your plants healthy this spring. Mulch helps retain moisture and maintain consistent soil temperatures while it chokes out weeds. When applying mulch, keep the bed to 2-4 inches. Too much mulch can harm plants by promoting root rot and other diseases.
