I had gutter problems. The estimator arrived on time, described the problems, and checked back in with the boss to confirm. He provided a written estimate. A couple of months later I called to get the old gutters replaced and have one entirely new section put in. I emailed the signed estimate, which they evidently lost for a week, so I finally called back. They were apologetic and scheduled my work quickly. It was done while I was at work as promised, seems to work fine so far, and they emailed an invoice, which I paid via CC over the phone. Pretty easy. I can't really comment about price, since I didn't compare with anyone, but I think it's probably average.
Started well, ended poorly
A plumber came to fix a variety of small problems, and spent several hours working industriously. While I was gone to get a new showerhead, I returned to find him working on the wrong shower. I jokingly corrected him, he indicated (I thought) that had found and fixed a problem with temperature reversal, and moved on. After work was complete, I noticed the temperature was NOW completely reversed in that shower, and I thought a mistake must have been made. I called and received an immediate callback. Evidently I had misunderstood, as he defensively insisted he did NOT perform reversal work on the wrong shower, and that it remained reversed. I accepted this correction as a misunderstanding on my part, but explained that it was still operating differently than before and politely asked if he knew why. He continued to be strangely defensive and argumentative, to the point that I asked him why he was so defensive (he actually admitted he was). He did offer to come out again the next morning. Ten minutes AFTER our appointment time, he called to say he was late and could he come an hour later? I gave up at that point. I just felt uncomfortable talking to him anymore. It was very strange, because it wasn't really that big of a deal, but he really escalated it.
Otherwise, the quality of the work done seems fine. I can't comment as to value, as I had no other estimates. It seemed somewhat expensive, but I don't really know.
Knowledgeable and dedicated to quality work
After a miserable experience with Trutech, I called these guys when my rats re-appeared. They gave a free estimate and showed me all the horrible mistakes Trutech made. Their price for an exclusion was slightly more, but then, they DID a lot more. They also cleaned and replaced my attic insulation for me. All their work is guaranteed, unlike some services. However, don't expect them to be on time. In all the many visits to my house, they were on time only once--sometimes an hour late or more without a call. Also, they don't always follow through with promised paperwork. You may have to bug them for it repeatedly (like the warranty). But the quality of the work was worth it.
A terrible (and expensive) disappointment
Trutech did an expensive exclusion service when I had a rat (about $1200) which was (seemimgly) performed professionally and as scheduled. 14 months later, I once again had rats. I vaguely recalled my contract required an $240 annual renewal. Assuming my house was sealed, I had not renewed. But I also noticed that the contract only covered squirrels, and my problem was rats. So a renewal would have been useless anyway. (Don't know where that came from.) Trutech was polite and professional when I called, but said it would be a minimum of $189 even to come out and look at it, and avoided all responsibility.
At that point I went to another company. THEY came out for a FREE evaluation. He quickly noted Trutech's completely unprofessional work. The holes in the foundation had been filled with spray foam--the rats chewed right through it. No wire mesh was applied to foundation vent openings. Mesh on attic vents was only half screwed down. Nothing was done to chimney. Flashing in construction gap was too narrow--inadequate (and wrong screws used). I had to pay to have the exclusion done over, and THIS company guarantees against ALL varmints, with inexpensive biennial renewals.
Nothing true about Trutech except their high prices. Better companies are out there that really stand by their work.
Better than expected
I was a little wary of going with a company that deluged me with coupons, but they were actually great. Quick and professional. Came out on a Saturday to do the estimate. He gave me advice on what to remove, and found another (small) dead tree that I hadn't noticed, for a total of 4. Rather than specifically calculate in the coupons, he just quoted an overall rate that included stump grinding. I was really expecting it to cost more. They came out and did the job within a couple of weeks (I didn't have to be here). I didn't even know it was done until they called the next morning to confirm and remind me to send a check. Everything was done as promised, including saving some nearby plants. They cleaned up nicely. They do drive up into your yard, so it leaves tracks, but it doesn't matter on my lawn (you might want to ask about this if you have a fetish about a perfect lawn). Anyhow, I would recommend them to anyone because of the ease of service and professionalism and price.
