Won't Be Going Back
We chose Dr. Byrd's practice b/c our dental insurance covered them and they're close. I was basically surprised by so many things with our visit. They "brought to my attention" things that they said our previous dentists had all "missed." They slated us all for this "deep cleaning" that was oh so important for all of us to prevent further gum and bone disease. Call it a strange feeling inside, I simply told them no thank you, even though this made them mad. I felt so uncomfortable about the experience, I called a friend who has been a dental hygenist for over 20 years. She told me not only about the rise in procedures like this deep cleaning for profit (dentists have had to be more creative to make money with insurance cuts) but the apparent rise in the Atlanta area. It was only after I spoke with her that I began to process all the little things that occured while I was there. They basically added up to them taking advantage of us (or trying to) while offering the least amount of details to support their claims. They didn't even let me see the x-ray of my daughter's supposed cavity. They offered a treatment plan for one of my kids who didn't need it but neglected to offer it to another one who really did. Why? Because the one was old enough for our insurance to cover the procedure but the other wasn't. I only wish I had read the reviews before I went with them. I will listen to my gut from now on and not be afraid to challenge things I feel to be wrong.
