Replaced Old AC Compressor
In late June, we noticed that our AC was not cooling. We immediately called Reliable because of prior good service. When the tech discovered multiple leaks inside and out on the 11 year old compressor, Mick Inzer came out to assess our options. In our 30 years here, cooling for the upstairs bedrooms has been marginal. A single 3 ton compressor barely met Cobb code when new. Mick examined the air handling system from the basement to the attic and recommended additional ducting and an upgrade from a 3 ton to a 4 ton compressor with a manual damper to direct air flow upstairs. He's the first AC rep to suggest anything besides a second compressor and dual ducting. The cost and potential repair problems to add a 2nd AC has never been realistic. Mick's proposal made a lot of engineering sense, so we scheduled the upgrade. We lived with open windows and ceiling fans since Reliable was so busy.
Finally the date arrived and we met the techs, Chris Moore and Bobby Lee. They used Mick's proposal and made all of the proposed upgrades. There were huge air leaks of AC into the basement, so they reframed and sealed the new unit. The techs found an attic duct that was open (likely from extra insulation blown into the attic). The open duct wasted AC and air flow. They corrected that problem too, without adding charges.
They were very personable and efficient. It was a pleasure to have them working in my house. It was a "win-win" in every way. Now, all floors are comfortable.
