Haynes Service Company

Wonderful service and friendly

I awoke a few weeks ago to a toilet that wouldn't flush, and the sneaking suspicion that one of my children had flushed something like a toy down the toilet. I asked on Facebook for recommendations on who to call and my friend recommended Randy. I called and they had him out to my house within a few hours. He was friendly and was able to quickly remove the offending object (an apple) and have my toilet up and running again. He also charged far less for this than the last company that came out to remove a toy from my toilet. I will be calling him the next time my kids decide to see what they can send to the sewer underworld, for sure.

Friendly but several drawbacks

Women’s Health Associates is a VERY large practice. Waits were sometimes several hours and then Dr. Houston would only spend a few minutes with you before rushing out. There are three OBs that rotate call, so there is only a 33% that she will deliver your baby unless you schedule a “convenience” induction. She did not like it when I asked questions about my care. It is every woman’s responsibility to educate themselves, ask questions and participate in their own care and she was very dismissive of that (told me to "stop looking up things on the internet"). I ended up with a cesarean birth after she failed to diagnose breech positioning. When I returned for my second pregnancy she had not looked at my chart to review my history at all. The practice does not offer VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), which is not evidence-based as ACOG says that VBAC is a "safe and reasonable option for most women with a prior cesarean". Dr. Houston is nice and friendly, but that is only a small part of what I needed from my OB. I chose to switch to another doctor.

doc t is the best!

When I first wrote a review for Dr. Tate in late 2007 he had just attended the birth of my second child. I was very impressed then and I am just as impressed now, as I sit nursing my fourth child, who he caught (squatting on the floor!) just a few months ago. Over the years I have had the chance to get to know Dr. Tate very well and I am being truthful when I say you simply will NOT find better, more personalized care, anywhere in Atlanta. Dr. Tate practices evidence-based care, and unlike many doctors, is willing to change that care as evidence dictates. Even though he has been catching babies for almost 30 years, he won't stick with something just because "that's how it's always been done" - he is open to changing his practices after review of the literature. He is also very comfortable with patients doing their own research and willing to discuss any articles or studies with them. Dr. Tate also is a participant and supporting member of ICAN of Atlanta, a group helping women to recover from cesareans, plan their births after cesarean, and advocate to lower the rising cesarean rate in our country. In sum, I highly recommend Dr. Tate for the best obstetrics and gynecological care available in Atlanta :)
