Friendship Village of Tempe

Fantastic Peace of Mind

My mom has lived at Friendship Village for the past 8 years. She lives in an apartment and has made so many wonderful friends. She's busier than she ever was with keeping up her house! She has lunch dates with her girlfriends just about every day of the week and there are so many activities that she can choose to attend. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the few times my mom has been seriously ill, they have stepped in and handled things wonderfully. We live close by, but it's still hard to manage everything all the time so it is a great peace of mind to know that there are people caring for her. It is fairly expensive; however, residents get a lot for their money. Worth every penny in my opinion. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Chelsea's Kitchen

Good food, but very expensive

I do enjoy going to Chelsea's, but it is a very expensive meal for the portion size and quality. Nice food, but nothing extraordinary. I also hate that sodas are by the can and with no free refills. Ceviche is good, although I understand it's not true ceviche. Fish tacos are wonderful, but a bit overpriced.

Advanced Holistic Health Centers

Great for your health

Wonderful office environment. Dr. Summers is a wonderful chiropractor and acupuncturist. Her dedication to infertilty help, among other areas, is a specialty not often seen. Would recommend her for anyone looking for acupunture or chiropracitic care.

Islands Restaurant

Great Family Restaurant

LOVE THIS PLACE! Menu is getting a lot more diverse, which was needed I think. Love the fact that fries come with each meal now instead of having to buy them separately. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I've made several substitutions and they have been so accommodating. One of the few restaurants where it seems a manager is almost always visible and available if needed. Try happy hour in the bar from 4-7 for 1/2 priced appetizers and also kids eat free w/adult entree on Tuesday nights.

Ted's Charcoal Broiled Hot Dogs

A Must Visit

I'm not very adventurous, so was a little leery of going to a hot dog shop for lunch. But at the advice of a friend, we tried it and boy was I thrilled we did. It's a regular on our eating out list. They now even take credit cards, which is much more convenient than the cash only service they had previously. Fun to watch them grill your hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. and the food is wonderful. Onion rings are superb. Price is a little more than you'd expect for a hot dog, but definitely worth it.

Landmark Restaurant

Gone a little downhill

We still will go to the Landmark, but it is not what it once was. I've been going there for about 15 years. It used to be my birthday dinner spot, but portion sizes seem to be a little smaller, and the prices are higher. Quality doesn't seem to be as good either. We've tried several things on the menu that we have really not enjoyed - of course, some of the items are still wonderful. The salad room is fun, but also doesn't seem to have as much of the bigger items as it used to have. Just a lot more of the same.

Regency Garden Inc

Surpassed all expectations

We got married at Regency Garden in early 2004. The owners were involved in every step and were so accommodating and wonderful to work with. The place does not look like much from the outside, but the inside garden and inside facility for receptions are beautiful. We had a major snaffoo with the flowers (not done by Regency) and the owner Chris and his wife stepped up and sent one of their staff to the store to get me flowers. They used some of silk arrangements to replace what should have been on the cake table. And at the end of the night, would not accept any money for any of it. They are a rare find and as long as Chris and his wife still own it (had heard a rumor that it might be under new ownership), I would recommend them to anyone.

Lawn Tamers

Great value & service

I'm amazed by the reviews posted already. I do agree that it's a pain to always get the answering service and need a call back, but I've always received a prompt call back. Their prices were the lowest of any established company (you can get cheaper from independent guys doing it on the side, but they aren't as reliable). This company did a friends yard for several years and is now doing our yard. They were very thorough - doing much more for the lesser cost than any other company offered.

Classic Homes Landscape

Not worth the money

Got an estimate from this company and it was very high, but given my time availability went ahead with them. They said they would call before coming out. Over a week later and still no call - in the meantime, my lawn has grown even worse. Called another established lawn company and they came for an estimate the next day and completed all my yard work the very next day - for about 1/3 the price!
