saved from surgery
I went to see Dr. Garcia for leg pain caused by spinal stenosis. The pain was so bad while standing or walking that I could do little of either for 6 months. I also had nerve damage which made my left leg very weak. My orthopedic doctor said I needed surgery to fuse the L4 and L5 vertebrae. Within a couple of months I started having less pain - my most noticeable benefits began when I switched from his Decatur location to the Clarkston location where he has a flexion distraction machine - that seemed to make the difference for me. Now, after 11 months of treatment, my pain is much improved and am continuing to gain strength in my left leg. I can now walk and stand as long as I like. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Garcia for returning my life to me. On the flip side, I've had low back pain near the SI joint which has not improved - in fact, it's even gotten worse - since I began seeing Dr. Garcia (hence the 4* rating). It could be some stubborn inflammation that simply can't be treated chiropractically, so I'll be getting an injection of cortisone from my MD to see if that helps. Other considerations are that the staff is great, and everyone really cares about your outcome. Parking is easy and convenient, and you have two locations to choose from (Dr. Garcia shuttles between the two, and there is another chiropractor on the staff).

beware of comprehensive costs
I wanted to try acupuncture to treat the leg pain I have from spinal stenosis, so I went to Dr. Kang as her website said she was in the Aetna Provider Network (she isn't), but she is part of Aetna's ASH discount program for alternative providers. I had reviewed the prices and her website and thought I would be incurring only the cost of the acupuncture ($65) even though she provides numerous other services. I like Dr. Kang and find her to be extremely well-trained in her multiple fields. She is kind and passionate about helping patients get well. By the time I was finishing up the first visit she explained the "care plan" which included costs for multiple other services. I had a case of sticker shock so you should make sure you understand the comprehensive nature of the costs as early as practical if costs are an issue for you. My first visit took over 4 hours. Subsequent visits were more like 2 hours for me. She did not always return in a timely manner to remove the needles or cups from my back - a 15 minute session would sometimes turn into 30-45 minutes; then you turn over and go through that again. She said most have some benefit after 3 visits but after 4 visits I had no pain relief, so I bailed out even though she wanted me to continue for the full 8 visits.

did not work for me
My experience at Lotus of Life was not as positive as the others. I went in because of pain I experience due to spinal stenosis. From the beginning I was advised that I could expect some pain relief within the first two weeks of adjustments (6 adjustments - 3/week). So pain relief was to be my measuring stick for success and would help me to decide whether to pursue this effort to term. After the 6 adjustments and no relief, I decided to give it more of a chance by going an additional week + (4 more adjustments). Although I was told that clinically (the chiropractor's observations) I was making good progress, pain was the only thing I had to go on, and I still had all of it. So, having not made any progress from my point of view, I decided I couldn't afford the additional months of treatment that were recommended for me. By the way, the staff and doctors at Lotus are very nice, but they seem to specialize in treatment of pregnant mothers, their babies, and children, so if child related noise (crying, etc.) and kid activity in the adjustment room bother you, you may want to consider that. Also, some may be surprised (I was) to find that a doctor may adjust up to 3 patients at a time, all in the same room. However, none of that would have been an issue for me had I gotten the results I was seeking, I just didn't.

I'm glad that I chose Aladdin
The installation was just as advertised, professional, efficient, friendly - very impressive work and people overall. The only negatives I could mention is that they were about an hour late, but they did call when the appointment time got close. Also, I had to remind them to apply the senior citizens' discount which we had discussed previously. These are just nitpicks compared to the overall performance which was exceptional - perhaps the best service of any kind I have ever received.

A very bad experience
I took my Olympus SP310 camera because the camera appeared to be draining the batteries excessively. Sissy, the owner, said for $20 they could test the camera, tell me what's wrong with it, and I could apply the $20 to the repair of the camera if I chose to. They were able to take 50 consecutive flash pictures with it which was the just about the max for a point & shoot camera which proved there was nothing wrong with it. But since I explained my wife's Nikon Coolpix L10 seemed to do much better with the same batteries she agreed to test the batteries. She said the camera and batteries (Duracell's precharged rechargeable 2,000 mah batteries) were fine. I told her I got to 800 flash pics using the same batteries on the Nikon and the batteries never drained. She told me that was impossible. I told her Nikon and Duracell said her "50 pics" claim was not even close. I asked for a refund because they couldn't fix my camera and she declined and hung on up me while I was still pleading my case. She called back and said she would provide a refund but insulted me by saying I wanted something for nothing. I tried to tell her I just wanted my camera fixed and she hung up on me again while I was politely trying to defend my position. The owner's people skills are not what I expect from a business. The techs claimed I did something impossible with the Nikon. You don't want the same experience I had - I won't go back.

dependable, resourcefull, good work
Daniel provided a free estimate after reviewing the jobs we wanted him to do. He arrived on time, did good work, came up with other solutions when the obvious would not work, and stuck to his estimates whether the work took more (or less) time to complete than he anticipated.
