Sub Par Experience

I decided to check this place out because of the Scoutmob discount. $50 for a standard pedicure is ridiculous, but I figured it was worth trying out for $25. First, the people here seem very disorganized. I called and left a message twice to make an appointment before someone finally called back to book me. Then, when I showed up 5 minutes late (because I had a hard time finding the place.. the sign is tiny) I still had to wait another 5 minutes before my nail tech strolled in the door from her lunch break. The chair she sat me in was okay but not exactly cushy (no massager either). She was nice enough, but I don't think very experienced. She filed a toenail down to the point that I shrieked in pain. It actually hurt to walk on it the next day. Even more disappointing, a week later, the nail polish just started sliding off the nails in big sheets. She must not have prepped the nails correctly. Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. When I called to complain and ask for a refund, the guy who finally called me back (after 4 days!!!) apologized and said he'd "check on" doing a refund and then never called again. I'm honestly afraid to force the issue at this point for fear they'll just screw something else up and charge my card instead of refunding or something. I cannot BELIEVE the prices they charge at this place for such a lack of service and quality.

Dott, Andrew B MD

Nice doctor but not my best experience

I'll start by saying Dr. Dott is very experienced, knowledgeable, and pleasant to talk with. But from the handful of prenatal visits I had there, this was my experience: 1) The front desk staff seemed standoffish and at times acted confused about what was going on. Also, they only answer the phones between 9-12 and 1:30-3. With my work schedule, this made calling in for an appointment difficult. 2) During my first appt. the nurse gave me advice on what to do/not do while pregnant. She told me not to do any running b/c the baby might "detach". (???) I mentioned this to Dr. Dott and he waved it off, saying "she's just a nurse". I really hope he had a discussion w/her afterward, because that to me was a major red flag that his staff are not well educated. 3) During my discussions w/Dr. Dott, I felt like there was a lot of important information he didn't offer up unless I asked about it. (I'm glad I did my research beforehand so I knew what to ask!) Also, at my new ob/gyn, I got a ton of pamphlets w/info and pre-natal vitamin samples on my first prenatal visit. I wish Dr.Dott's office would provide something similar, at least for first-time moms. On the positive side, Dr. Dott is not one to obsess over some of the panic-inducing warnings you hear from other doctors about pregnancy. He's very relaxed about all the "do's and don't's". I'm the kind of person who wants to know about ALL the risks, no matter how small, so it just wasn't a good fit for me.

Tires Plus Total Car Care

Great Experience

My husband and I have been taking our cars here for over 3 years. The front desk people are always helpful and courteous. The mechanics use plastic covers on the driver seat and don't mess with any of the settings in your car... not a huge deal but just shows they care. They are thorough with their inspections and give you a detailed report on what they find. We've never had a complaint with their maintenance/repairs. Oh and make sure to get on the coupon mailing list!!!

Vinings Center for Dentistry

Top Notch

A HUGE thanks to Dr. Lumpkin and her staff for redefining the dental experience. I have never been to a dentist as attentive, thorough, and informative as this one. Dr. Lumpkin spotted several cavities between my teeth that my previous dentist had failed to notice, and patiently answered all my questions as I subsequently flipped out over the news! As it turns out, I have been flossing incorrectly all these years... I wonder how long it would have taken before I realized this otherwise? I have been through quite a few ordeals with bad customer service (including the dentist), so it is incredibly refreshing to find an office of people who genuinely care about the patient and do their jobs well.

Bridals by Lori

WORST alterations service ever experienced

I purchased my dress from Bridals by Lori and enjoyed the shopping experience. The sales rep was pleasant and the dress selection was fabulous. That said, I should have just taken my dress to another place for the alterations. The woman assigned to my dress made me nearly lose my mind. I had to go in for SEVEN fittings, and each time, the areas we talked about fixing had either been done incorrectly or not at all. The icing on the cake was when I was trying to bustle my dress just before the reception and discovered she had sewn in the bustle loop incorrectly. My coordinator had to pin it up with safety pins!!! When I called Bridals by Lori to complain about this after the wedding, the response was "Oh, you must be mistaken... we NEVER let a dress leave the store without TRIPLE checking the bustle", and it was only after persistent begging that they finally offered me a small refund. After spending hundreds of dollars on their useless alterations, I got a whopping $35 back for all my tears and frustration. THANKS.

Exceptional Service

I took my great-great-grandmother's engagement ring to BTH for re-sizing. It is over a hundred years old and the jeweler I normally go to wouldn't even touch it because it was so fragile! Brad however had no problems. He charged me $50, which costs a little more than a standard re-sizing due to the delicate nature of the job. He did an excellent job though, and also reinforced the prongs on the diamonds for me free of charge. He even offered to clean my wedding ring for free while I was there. Overall, it was a very positive experience and free of any hassle or worry.

3 L Manufacturers For Designers

Poorly sewn dresses & unethical business practices

I had Shirley make 7 bridesmaid dresses that I designed from scratch for my wedding. It was a very simple design, but she had problems from the start and did not seem to listen to any of my specifications. She basically put it together how she thought it should look and then got irritated when I complained that it wasn't what I designed. She also did a VERY poor sewing job (uneven hems, off-center trim, puckered seams, etc.) and refused to refund me any $ when I told her I was unhappy with the product. I spent $162 per dress for something I wouldn't pay $10 for off a clearance rack! She also hid all my leftover fabric from me (which I paid for!) and kept it, telling me all she had left over was scraps. I went back into her sewing room myself and found YARDS of it lying on the table. I still can't believe how awful she has been to me, and with only 3 weeks left till my wedding, I am now rushing to find a new seamstress to fix all the problems with the dresses. The Better Business Bureau will be hearing from me very soon!
