Violette

Posted on: 12/11/2010

Sad To Say...

We went to Violette last night in a last minute decision. Greeted nicely, table was fine. Nice atmosphere. Service was AWFUL! We ordered wine (took forever to get), appetizer of salmon mousse was good/tasty. Then our server took a long time to take our order and we waited...salad...another wine order (took forever to get, again)...THEN waited for our entree (and I mean WAITED). After entree, he quickly cleared everything, but did not de-crumb the table (which surprised me). We ordered 2 espressos, 2 frangelicos, and a creme brulee. Brulee was right out of the frig and espresso didn't come until we were almost finished. Entrees were just 'ok'. Nothing to write home about or to try again. We tipped about 8% as the service really sucked!!

California Dreaming

Disorganized and Too 'Chain'

We decided to try California Dreaming last night. Put our name one the list and was told it would be about 25 mins. and headed to the bar for one of their itty-bitty, over priced martinis. Waited for our gadget to light up and waited and waited. The bar was understaffed and we were never asked if we'd like something else. Finally my friend went to the hostess and she had forgotten us, and threw the name sheet away, BUT she said that we'd be the next one she'd call. We sat and waited (and waited) and they were seating other ppl. That was all I needed to see and we commented to the hostess and she laughed nervously (never apologized) and I said, "Forget it, we're leaving". The manager followed me outside and wanted to 'talk'...but as I told him, "I have been in the restaurant industry for over 15 years and there is nothing that can fix this...one mess up, I can understand on a busy night, but twice and then try to laugh it off is WRONG and I won't be staying". He got all upitty and I told him to stop being defensive and walked away. Just another chain with arrogant management and poor service. Same old same old.

Waraku Japanese Restaurant

New Favorite

We've been searching for a new sushi place for awhile and found Waraku by chance. The sushi was delicious and reasonably priced. The attention by the staff was also great. It's a smaller place with calm/quiet setting. I find the true test of sushi is not only how it tastes, but how you feel a few hours later (yes, odd as that sounds, I've had yummy sushi that left me feeling really awful a few hours later). I felt great after Waraku - yyaay!!

Disappointed AGAIN!

We took our children there 3 years ago and there were so many displays that didn't work in the children's section. Returned today and the SAME THINGS were still out of order or missing pieces. I spoke with Christy from the administrative office and she got really defensive and gave me some song and dance about 'we're doing our best'. If that's their BEST, what a shame! I think they have lost focus that 'children' are the bread and butter of that place! The areas for children should ALWAYS be functioning and in perfect working order...or at least great working order. We will never return. The dinosaurs are cool and some other displays are nice but more for adults. $15/person isn't worth the frustration if you're looking for a fun place to take your kids.
