Aquatech Raingutters

Posted on: 10/25/2011

Not Up To Expectations

Obviously, we are too picky. We must expect more than other buyers. We chose Aquatech because although not the least expensive, they seemed the most professional. Not true. The gutters were installed with certain sections draining directly onto the roof, instead of into ajoining gutters, which leads to premature wear on the shingles. The leafguard screen is extremely uneven, with gaps between sections which will let debris in. The employees who (eventually) returned to fix problems were flippant, and left a mess. I could not recommend Aquatech to anyone else.

Complete Glass Service

Go Somewhere Else

Ordered new construction windows to be installed by a contractor, and retrofit windows to be installed by Complete Glass. Windows arrived sooner than expected. Went downhill from there. Complete Glass installers came and did interior installation on Thursday, said they would be back Monday or Tuesday to do interior trim. Didn't show up, I couldn't leave a message because voice mail was full, e-mailed with no response. Finally reached someone on Friday, who promised they would be there Monday. No show again. Called again, promised they would be there following Monday, no show again. Out of trim, trim backordered, other excuses. When they ordered the windows, why didn't they order the interior trim? FINALLY, showed up to finish (arriving late in afternoon 2 days in a row), and used primed MDF molding around the windows in the shower stalls. MDF gets wet and swells -- shower stalls are wet -- does this make sense? Go somewhere else.

Hk Construction

Didn't live up to previous experience.

HK Construction did a room addition and a fence for us 14 years ago -- it was GREAT! So, when we needed work done on another house, we went back. Unfortunately, our second experience was no where close to the first. Yes, we had trouble making up our minds about the size of the windows, and yes, there were many rainy days in December. Even taking those problems into account, no one would show up for days with no explanation, we had to keep reminding about work to be done, some work had to be redone (how hard is it to make a windowsill level? -- evidently very hard, because after 3 tries, it still isn't right!) Blaming it on the subcontractor isn't an acceptable excuse -- ultimately, the contrator is responsible for those he hires.

D & S Termite & Pest Control

Maybe It's Just Us?

Relying on other reviews, I chose D&S to termite 2 houses, done on the same day. They were GREAT at estimating and scheduling on short notice, getting us the contracts quickly, explaining the process. However, if you have any plants around your house that you value at all, dig them up and move them FAR AWAY from the structure before tenting. I dutifully went around both houses and trimmed back all the plants at least 12 inches away from the house. Tipped the plants on trellis's away from the house, leaving at least 12 inches clearance. The tent installers stood the trellis's back up against the house, tucked the bushes inside the tents, and even dug up a plant to use the dirt to help hold down the tent. On the plus side, I haven't seen any sign of termites since.

Outstanding Experience

I needed special webbing for a mid-century chair. The 1st 2 places I tried did not have it. Julian not only stocks the webbing, he did a beautiful repair job in 1/2 the estimated time at a great price!
