DO IT RIGHT OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL

I had an appt to clean AND SEAL tile and grout in a den, very small kitchen and very small bathroom. I should have known there would be a problem when, every time I called, they talked about my "carpet cleaning job." I kept repeating that it was tile. The technician was very nice. He informed me they did not move furniture so we moved some out, but other pieces were too heavy so they worked around them. After the technician finished, I inspected the work. YUCK!!! EWWWW!! The edges of the room, around the furniture, and near the doors were still filthy. The tech informed me their machine was "too big to fit". I said, um, then why can't you clean it by hand or have a smaller attachment to reach those places--for $400! Why am I paying for a whole room when you can't even reach a lot of it??? I called the owner a couple of times to complain. I kept getting referred to "customer service;" they basically told me they would redo it. But, that would be going over the same areas and STILL not reaching the gross, dirty corners (I have dogs; that's why the grossness.) I told them I was not satisfied, and that they needed to rethink being in the tile business. I said they should tell people up front that they can't reach the corners, edges, under toilet, etc. so we can make an informed choice. They also never sealed the tile; they said I should have discussed that with the tech. NO; they should have told him what I ordered, set up and expected to be done! AMATEURS.

Took my $100, then never showed up

I had the same BAD experience described by other recent customers. Brandon came by, I gave him his $100 consultation fee to be applied toward the work if I hired him. He gave me an excellent plan, at a very good price. Then, he kept putting off the start date. We finally had a specific date. I waited at the house for him all morning. No answers to my phone or email messages. When I got to work the next day, he had sent a cryptic message to my work email: "something came up; need to reschedule. Thursday?" I replied that I waited all morning for him at the house. I never heard from him again. If you think about it, this is a nice little side business for him--taking $100 "consultation fees", but never showing up or acting like such a jerk that no one hires him. We ought to all contact the BBB.

EGO and ATTITUDE far exceed talent

'nuff said. It was difficult getting past even the interview process with this girl; we could barely get a word in edgewise due to lack of interest in our needs vs blabbing about her own. We are suspcious of the back-to-back postings with all the exclamation marks--they just scream "self-posted."

Decatur Handyman

Not responsive at all

We needed a few minor things done in our home, and called Decatur Handyman due to all their positive reviews. We also have other, bigger jobs we need to have completed in the future. After several attempts at phone and email, we finally got Steve and Paul to come out. They walked through the house, took notes, and said they'd get back to us in a day or two with an estimate. We never heard back, and they never responded to our reminder calls and emails. So much for honest, dependable, customer service. I think that, once these ultra-small businesses get several good reviews on Kudzu, they get arrogant and think they can blow people off; however, the Internet is a very powerful tool ...
