Done with Holtkamp
After 6 years with Holtkamp, I am done. I was initially very impressed when they first installed a new furnace in our house in 2007. I was also pleased with the service at first.
However, on a maintenance visit, the technician forgot to power the furnace back on after servicing it. Since I did not know how to do it myself, I had to contact Holtkamp and have another technician more than an hour away talk me through the procedure of turning the furnace back on over the phone.
This same problem happened again a couple of years later, but since I remembered what to do to resolve it, I fixed it myself.
Today's maintenance visit was the final straw though. I had scheduled a service visit for 8:00 AM about 3 weeks earlier. Yesterday, I had a voice mail asking if I could reschedule the appointment for later today. When I called and asked why I needed to reschedule when I had made an appointment so far in advance, they agreed to send someone out at 8:00 AM.
The technician that came out today left our sliding glass door in the basement wide open, and my wife discovered this early in the evening, as well as the fact that our indoor cat had wandered outside.
This act of complete carelessness and stupidity is the final straw in my mind and unforgivable.
If you choose to work with Holtkamp, I would suggest that you follow up on the technicians to ensure that they complete their work or do not leave a door wide open.
