After the all Hispanic roofing crew of 7 left our house, of which only 1 could speak English, I discovered 11 bundles of new shingles hidden in the dumpster (photo: http://flic.kr/p/87Sa5y). Keep in mind the roofer’s are paid by the number of shingles installed. Upon seeing this, the owner, Richard Hicks, offered me $1000 price reduction. However, he rescinded this offer after we cancelled the remaining door and siding work due to lack of trust. Their reason was that I was not really charged for the extra shingles due to a clerical error. Bottom line: the roofing crew tried to rip us off and most likely have done it to many other previous customers and new shingles were hauled off to the dump. Through all of this, Richard seemed more interested in his company’s reputation and Kudzu score than customer satisfaction. Forget the adage “The customer is always right” – he has no concept of this. This was very evident in his use of intimidation, threats, name calling and a law suit. He apparently cares for nothing more than the initial take. Richard made us, the paying customer, into the bad people when all we were trying to do was point out to him that his crew was not trustworthy. I would not recommend doing business with this company, and notice they did not make the Cobb County “Verified Home Services” guide which focuses on customer satisfaction.
