Plumb Doctor LLC

It pays to search the internet...

After discovering puddles of water under my house, I soon found the problem, whenever the washing machine went into discharge mode, the pipe leaked. After wasting time calling the ‘big name’ plumbing companies and being told it would cost me $75 just for the privilege to have them show up and tell me what’s wrong, I went to the internet and looked for smaller local companies. I soon came across the Plumb Doctor. I called and left a message, and within five minutes received a call from Brandon. After explaining the situation, we setup a service call for the next day at 3:00pm. At 3:05pm Matt showed up and we proceeded to crawl under the house as I showed him where the backup was occurring. Now, I was thinking that snaking the line would clear the backup, but Matt felt a more permanent fix would be to replace a section of the old cast iron pipe where the line from the washing machine connected into. The old cast iron pipe over years (the pipe was original from 1962), would begin to rust inside and start ‘catching’ debris which over time, starts to backup and clog. We agreed on a price and Matt said he would be back the next morning to finish the job. Since the repair I have run numerous loads through the washing machine, checked back under the house, and no more leaking or backups. Most companies would have just snaked the line and been on their way, but Matt saw a better fix and now I have a company I can feel comfortable with when plumbing issues come up.

Hope you don’t have any warranty issues.

I had a new roof put on back in September of 2006 that was guaranteed for five years. After the heavy rains in September of 2009 a leak was discovered coming in from a vent pipe boot. I called Hicks and reported the problem and was told I would be ‘put on a list’. It wasn’t until a month later before someone came out and tried to repair the problem. In addition, the leaking had damaged ceiling tiles that were starting to mold. But the initial repair to stop the leaking didn’t work. Not until the following week when a complete replacement of the vent boot had to be done, the leaks finally stopped. While I was glad of that, there was still the matter of my damaged ceiling tiles. I would spend the next four months making phone calls and sending emails trying to get Hicks to finish this final repair. During this time I heard every conceivable excuse as to why they haven’t done what they were suppose to do. While Hicks is quick to give estimates and complete a job, warranty issues are another matter. If you are considering using Hicks Roofing, BE SURE to verify in writing what exactly there warranty will or will not cover. Just because it says they will stand behind their work, not until a problem comes up do you really find out how good a company will be. In the case of Hicks Roofing, a very frustrating experience.
