Saved the Day With Fast, Easy Service
On a Wednesday, I brought in 2 pdf files on a flashdrive, one in color, one grayscale. Needed 105 copies of a 6 page B&W booklet with color cover by Friday. Dave greeted me at the door, asked me what I needed, escorted me to the print center, & went to work immediately on my project. All it required was finding out what paper stock I wanted, & which files on the flash drive to print. I had a proof in my hands immediately that looked great. He guaranteed delivery by the next evening. But three hours later, I had the completed project in hand, great quality, just what I asked for, at a competitive price. Courteous, competent, respectful customer service, no hassles, no drama, no complications, no excuses. FedEx Kinko's was able to very easily print for me what Printmaster of Decatur said was impossible to do -- an extremely simple job that should have been very easy for Printmaster, but their customer service, attitude, and competency were shockingly low compared with FedEx Kinko's. After the extremely indefensible, unprofessional non-service and time-wasting runaround I received at Printmaster of Decatur, FedEx Kinko's was a comparative breath of sanity and fresh air. Don't waste your time at Printmaster getting accused of providing inadequate files when they simply don't know how to use software & a printer. Take those exact same files to Kinko's and they will get the job done well, fast, courteously, and professionally, by people who know how to do their job.
Feel Like We Got a Bargain
In late April 2010, we had Woodman Insulation blow in GreenFiber cellulose stabilized loose fill insulation into the attic of our 1954 ranch house, R-49. The salesman had come out previously to give us a free estimate, which he estimated by measuring the outside perimeter of the house and doing some calculations. The estimate was emailed to me from the office a couple of days later. My husband and I were shocked at how much lower the estimate was than we expected, and we knew immediately that it was worth it to us to have someone blow in insulation for us rather than the two of us trying to blow it in ourselves to save money. Woodman's quote was so affordable that we wouldn't have saved a substantial amount of money doing it ourselves. 3 guys came out and filled the attic to 15 or 16 inches deep (R-49) in about 2 hours beginning to end. The initial job wasn't completely to our satisfaction, as the depth was too variable from one end of the attic to the other, but after we asked them to add more bags of cellulose, they did. Woodman even allowed us to pay approx. $300 less than the estimate b/c the size of our attic was overestimated, & many fewer bags of insulation were actually used than how many we were quoted for. So we saved money there too. The attic looks great now & we're very happy we chose Woodman. You should give them a call and get a free quote!
So Glad We Went Here!
Sometimes with moving, doing work on a new home, and getting references from people for superior businesses who do superior work, it's hard to find a truly good deal on good quality work from someone who won't cut corners or try to screw you over. So I was amazed to find that Decatur Lock and Key, who recommended Meade's Discount Doors and More, wasn't lying when they said I should go to this place for a new front door. Meade's had truly good deals on quality solid wood, steel, and fiberglass doors (and more). I purchased a beautiful solid wood poplar front door with decorative glass/wrought iron window for $300 ($465 prehung in new frame). It was paint grade, but we stained it instead & it looks fantastic. One of the best things about Meade's is the Manager, Gary Thomas, who was very friendly & helpful, and the door installer, Jerry Bates, who was hands down THE best worker we've had working on our house so far. He was so professional and meticulous in installing our front door that he took 5 hours to get the job done right, rather than rushing through and doing a shoddy job as others likely would have done. We weren't in a hurry & were thankful for his conscientiousness and quality work. I would tell anyone to shop for doors at Meade's and to trust their installers to do good quality installations at a reasonable price, especially by Jerry Bates. I will be a return customer, and I am very discriminating, so that's saying a lot! Give Meade's a look, you'll be amazed.
Best Movers I've Ever Used
Hewes Family Movers was recommended to me by a friend who'd used them recently, and it was one of the best referrals I've ever received. We were attracted to them because they are a small company with few employees and were very good at communicating with us with prompt, honest, and straightforward rate quotes and service. One of the men in charge of the company, Bill Hewes, actually moved us into our recently purchased house himself along with his wife and another mover on a Sunday, a day they don't usually book, just so they could accommodate our schedule. They were friendly, professional, fast, and very careful with our furniture. They really seemed to care about the quality and efficiency of the move and about the safety of our things. They offered us a 2 hour minimum charge, with every minute prorated after that, which was a much better deal than other big movers offered us (mostly 3 hour minimum). Their hourly rate was only very slightly higher than the big moving companies, but only by $10/hour. For us, this extra $10/hour was very well worth it considering the speed and quality we got in return. Their personalities were so outgoing and friendly too -- it was just a pleasure to work with them. Nothing bad happened at all, and I would unreservedly recommend them to any single, couple, or family needing a residential mover in the Atlanta area. These are honest workers who care about their work and about your stuff! Give them a call and ask for an estimate.
No animals were harmed in this exclusion!
In April 2010 I hired AWS to perform exclusion work on the attic of a house I'd just purchased. The inspector had found tons of rat poop covering the attic's old insulation. We just wanted the rats out of the attic for good -- BUT -- we very happily live a vegan lifestyle and didn't want to kill or harm any animals, even if they had made a mess of our new attic. Other companies, as well as this one, said they performed kill trapping, but Steven Kennemer was willing to do live trapping for us with humane traps only. I offered to help Steve check the traps, which I did, and caught one roof rat, which I released on my property. Because we were offered a 3 year warranty on the exclusion, I wasn't worried about this rat getting back into our attic, and after 2-3 weeks of setting a trap & leaving peanuts in the attic with no takers, I'm confident that AWS has gotten rid of our rat problem. Although AWS didn't do the neatest or prettiest flashing job in the world, Steven was understanding of my desire to get the job done without harming the rats, & he was very patient with the improvements & corrections I wanted done to the original flashing job. The most important thing is that I believe the rats & their points of entry are gone. I believe it was money well spent for peace of mind, good home maintenance, energy conservation, & all without killing or harming animals. Consider conscientious living & make your choices compassionate ones whenever you can!
