Do not go if you want to keep your teeth

I went to Coastal Dental about 3 weeks ago(June 2010) b/c I had a tooth that needed to be extracted. My 1st visit went well. The staff was nice. I did not like that the dentist didn't introduce herself when she walked. She pulled the tooth and walked out. I walked out with another apppt, some pain meds & antibiotics. My 2nd appt was HORRIBLE!!! I went back to discuss ways to replacement my missing tooth and have her check the rest of my teeth. After being pocked and parodied, I was told I had 10 cavities and that I needed 3 other teeth pulled. The dentist said I needed a 5 part bridge. I told her all I wanted was an implant because of the location of the missing tooth. It was tooth on top and next to my 2 front teeth. The dentist wouldn't even speak with me about the implant saying it was to expensive. The cost for getting my cavities filled was estimated to be $800 and the 5 part bridge was over $3,800 (even with insurance). My gut was screaming “get a 2nd opinion” So I did. I didn't tell him anything about what the dentist at Coastal said until the exam was over. He said I have 3 cavities and he didn't see a problem with any of my other teeth! Had I blindly let this "dentist" move forward with her treatment plan, I would have lost 4 perfectly healthy teeth!! They want to what’s best for your money ….not you! Be careful

I will not go back

I had a tooth that needed to be removed and was wanting to get info about replacing a tooth that had been pulled 2 weeks prior (June/2010). I got there early and was set up in a room in a timely manner. The assistant talked with me about implants. Then she started prepping me for the extraction. The doctor came in the room said hello and told me he was be numbing the area. He gave me several shots to numb the area but not enough. When he starting pulling on my tooth I could actually hear the sound of it being pulled out. I asked to stop 2 times because of the pain. When I asked him to stop he did but then he would get up and leave the room to go talk to his receptionist about boats (really??). Instead of telling everyone a long drawn out story, I will just day this..I'm going to find another dentist. As you walk in the front door, there is a big note saying if you're not 15 early, you have to re-schedule. Not customer friendly. _
