El Porton

Posted on: 7/13/2010

Worst. "Mexican." Ever.

Wow. I was astounded by the craptacular meal we were served at El Porton. Stale chips, watery salsa... and that was just the appetizer. We should have taken the hint and walked out, but we were hungry, and love Mexican food. But, even by American standards this was junk. The enchilada plate had all the flavor of a cardboard box. If you want some decent mexican with a little more authenticity and a LOT more FLAVOR try El Zorito (I think that's the name) just south of Canton street.

JOAT- Jill of all Trades GA

Knowledgable, Dedicated and Dependable.

I contacted Jill off all trades to get my aging gutters replaced, and was so impressed with the quality, service and value I ended up contracting with them for new windows and a replacement roof. I'm giving 4 stars on service because the gutters were initially hung the usual way, behind the apron instead of the way I specified, below it, but it was fixed that weekend with only one phone call needed. Kristen took the time to explain to me all of the options, answer my MANY MANY questions, and find the best ways to complete these projects within my budget. My house looks great with 6" gutters, new energy-efficient windows, a new skylight and an architectural roof. The crews were prompt and courteous (even though the roofing was a NOISY job). When I saw the crew taking the time to pick up the nails out from the teeny space below the dumpster, and re-rake the leaves to make sure they got them all I knew these guys cared about doing a proper job. This kind of professionalism is all-too-rare in today's world. The windows are great... they operate super-smooth, and my house is cooler with them, as expected. One thing I did not expect is how much QUIETER my house is now. The windows do a great job of blocking noise... now I can sleep in when the neighbor mows his lawn! All-in-all working with Kristen was a great experience, and I recommend Jill of All Trades wholeheartedly.

Rice Thai Cuisine

Great food, cool atmosphere, a little pricey.

I loved the food, and the style... it's a converted house in historic Roswell. This is the best Thai I have had in Atlanta, but the price is higher than I usually can spend on a tight budget. My 3-star value rating may be a little unfair since my budget is tight... the quality was outstanding, so 5 stars overall. I'd like to be a regular, when I can afford it.
