Great Work for a Great Price

Originally called Gary since the septic system at my rental property was failing and I needed to know my options. He referred me to James with a sister company, Absolute Environmental. I knew from others that the system couldn't handle the volume being used by my tenants, and the county informed me that they wouldn't permit any work given that the property now has access to sewer. James was very thorough and knowledgeable in explaining what was going on, and confirmed my conclusion that the only real option was to connect to sewer. He quoted a flat rate that was lower than other estimates I'd received in the past and stuck to that price despite several unforseen challenges that extended the completion of the job (sewer tap was at the junction of the utility lines for several surrounding properties and required digging by hand). The job was started a week later than planned, and I'll admit I got a little nervous after a couple of days of silence, then reading some Absolute Environmental reviews. However, having dealt with numerous repairs and companies, I've come to understand that jobs rarely go according to plan and delays are inevitable. I didn't have an emergency situation, but I do wish I was better informed about exactly when my job would be started. But, I stuck with it, and so did James. In the end, he did great work for a great price. They even have an on-line portal where I was able to view/download the permit, pics, invoice, etc.

Great Job at a Great Price

I was referred to James through a sister company, Action Pro Septic, since the septic system at my rental property was failing and I needed to know my options. I knew from others that the system couldn't handle the volume being used by my tenants, and the county informed me that they wouldn't permit any repairs given that the property now has access to sewer. The job was started a week later than planned, and I'll admit I got a little nervous after a couple of days of silence, then finding some of the reviews here (remember, I originally researched Action Pro). However, having dealt with numerous repairs and companies, I've come to understand that jobs rarely go according to plan and delays are inevitable. I didn't have an emergency situation, but I do wish I was better informed about exactly when my job would be started. But, I stuck with it, and so did James. 5-stars can be misleading

The Good: Pleasant people. The salesman, Michael, was on time and very knowledgeable and thorough. He stayed for an extremely long time making sure that I had a complete understanding of the options available. He then followed up after the installation to make sure that the work was done satisfactorily and that we understood its operation. I feel that I purchased a high quality system for an extremely competitive price. The Bad: Installers tracked mud into the house, luckily I have wood floors. Through some innocent questioning, I discovered that the work order had the incorrect unit from the proposal Id signed. I overheard one of the installers state that this was the second mix-up that week. Luckily, the error was discovered with enough time to have the correct unit delivered and installed the same day. However, I had to take additional time off of work. What would have happened had I not stumbled onto this mistake? The Ugly: I was misinformed about the amount of rebates and tax credits pertaining to my unit. Calls to Michael and Kim to discuss the matter went unreturned when issues discovered. Though I dont believe I was intentionally misled, the errors translated into an effective cost of $1,000 more than what I originally thought. Having the correct information up front would have resulted in a different purchase decision. Though Id never rely on a home improvement contractor for tax advice, I would expect that theyd at least know what their product qualifies for.
