A picture says a thousand words

I needed a gas line run for a new stove in the kitchen. The scheduling was very convenient, and the price was very reasonable. As to the quality of the work, I've attached a picture of how the line was run, along with what I was expecting when we discussed the line being run along the doorway (the line in red). When I brought the discrepancy to the mechanic's attention, the response was a shoulder shrug and the comment "Well, that's [the line coming diagonally across the wall] what I'd figured when I looked at it." Also, the pipe which, at the top is tight to the corner, juts out approximately 3" from the wall at the bottom.
