American Crawlspace Solutions

Job well done

I needed a crawl space in a 100 year-old house cleaned (free of old construction debris), waterproofed, and sealed. John and his crew did a great job. Great communication and great work! Recommend!

Larry's Locksmith

Total bait and switch scam artist

This company is little more than a scam artist, and I highly recommend that no one EVER use their service. I told them exactly what I needed during my first phone call. They quoted me a price. The locksmith came out and performed the exact service that they quoted me (which took less than 30 min.), yet he charged TRIPLE what was quoted on the telephone. Unfortunately, the job was at a rental property I own, so I was not there at the time of service to refuse payment (they require payment at the time of service, which should have been a yellow flag, since most sub-contractors gladly send bills or allow credit card payment over the phone). My tenant paid the "technician" over triple the amount quoted, after listening to the guy say things like "holiday pricing" even though it wasn't a holiday and nothing like that was ever discussed on my phone call with the office. I called on Monday to ask why the charge was triple what I was quoted, even though no extra work was done beyond what we discussed on the phone. I was basically told to F-off. Of course they can say that; they already have my money. My only recourse is to warn others to RUN from this company. So, if you want to get screwed by a locksmith company, use Larry's. If you typically deal with honest companies who treat their customers with respect, never ever ever call this company. They will quote you one price, charge you another, then treat you like dirt when you question the charge.

Quick service

1. Steve answered the phone when I called. For anyone who ever deals with subcontractors, you know that is at least half the battle in getting any work done. So, we were off to a good start. 2. He came to my house the same day - only a few hours after our first conversation. That is HUGE and almost never happens. It was great that Steve came as quickly as he did, because the power was out at this house, and my tenant was not happy. 3. He quoted the job and completed it the same day. You can't ask for much more than that! Excellent service!

Metro Lawns, Inc

Good company!

I recently hired Metro Lawns to maintain the lawns of two properties in metro Atlanta, and they have returned calls, shown up on time, and completed the work with great results. Finding any kind of home sub-contractor (lawn, plumber, handyman, etc.) that holds themselves accountable and does what they say they are going to do is half the battle in getting anything done in home maintenance or home improvement, and these guys are very accountable! I'm impressed!

We Cut Grass, Inc

Thief! Accepted My Payment - Never Showed Up.

Shep and I spoke about ongoing lawn maintenance for two homes I own in metro Atlanta. He requires pre-payment (red flag #1) over Paypal (red flag #2) before any work will begin. I didn't pay attention to the red flags I just mentioned, and I prepaid him to cut and edge one of my lawns. He was supposed to cut the grass within two days of our conversation (which was also the day I prepaid him). Here we are four weeks later, and he has never shown up at my house. Moreover, he has not answered his phone or returned voice messages. He basically took my money and disappeared. Needless today, I have hired someone else who is not a common thief to cut my lawns. Luckily, I used a credit card to pay Shep via Paypal, and I just disputed that charge with AmEx. So at least I'll get that money back for non-service. Stay far far far away from this thief.

Mini Jobs

Stood me up

David and I spoke, and he told me he would do a small job for me on my home five days from the day we spoke. Five days seemed like a long time to wait for a small job, but I agreed because I didn't have time to shop around other handymen. Twelve days later, the job was STILL not done, and I heard NOTHING from David. I finally called him, and he told me he would get to it the next day (over a week after the job was supposed to be complete). Terrible service. Worse accountability. I highly recommend that you ignore all good reviews and choose another handyman that does the job he says he will do and holds himself accountable at all times.

Steve's Tree Service

Posted on: 7/5/2011

Waste of time

I called for a quote on some tree and overgrowth removal work that I need on a property I own in Atlanta. I received the quote a few days later, and I asked them to put me on their books and do the work ASAP. Corey said they needed a permit to cut on tree down, and I agreed that they did. My problem is that it has been two months, and no work has been done, and no effort has been made to actually get the permit and do the work. Their excuse is that they have not received the permit from the city of Atlanta to do the work. I believe that is true, but I also believe that no one at this company has made any effort whatsoever to actually GET the permit from the city. Dealing with the city of Atlanta has its own huge set of problems, but there is no way on this planet that it takes over two months to get a permit to cut down one small tree. I have personally gotten tree removal permits before, and they take (on average) a week to get. After several calls to Steve's office, over several weeks, I received a voice message from Steve himself, who basically told me to F-off and get the permit myself if I wanted the work done. So, with those kind words, I'm on kudzu finding a new tree service and warning others not to bother with this company.

Alpha1 Irrigation & Lighting

Get Him While You Can

Orlando is excellent. He came the same day we originally spoke, gave me a quote on the spot, and did the repairs and sprinkler head repositioning the same day as well. Other guys couldn't even give me a quote until three or four weeks in the future, and another company was totally horrible in multiple ways (see my other reviews). A week or so after the work was complete, I called about one small problem, and Orlando responded very quickly (on a Saturday, no less) and fixed it immediately at no extra charge. Very knowledgeable about landscaping (slope, shading, types of grass and foliage, etc.) and the irrigation systems, and also very professional. Call him immediately and hope he's not already slammed with new business from good word-of-mouth and these reviews!

Rainfall Irrigation Inc.

Posted on: 6/13/2011

Totally dropped the ball.

Rainfall Irrigation was recommended to me, so I tried to get quotes for two Atlanta properties. First of all, no one EVER answered the telephone when I called. That should've been the first sign of trouble. Secondly, it always took days before Joe (the apparent boss) ever returned my calls. After a good game of phone tag, Bill (Joe's lieutenant, apparently) met me at each house to examine the properties. Bill was great; no complaints there. But unfortunately he doesn't handle the quotes Joe does. I was told I would have quotes on the sprinkler work plus an exterior lighting on one home within five days. Seven says later, I called and (of course) got their voicemail. Joe eventually called me back and said he would have the quote to me within 24 hours. Four days later, after not even a follow-up phone call, I gave up. The worst part is, when I complained to the company that referred Rainfall, they contacted Joe, and Joe apparently tried to cover up/basically lie about the whole ordeal. He sent the referral company a quote that he allegedly sent me via email. That's lie #1, since he never asked, nor did I ever give him, my email address. The referral company forwarded me the quote, which also had a host of problems with it. My alleged email address was completely made up, the quote was inaccurate versus the work that needed to be done, and there was no quote for the lighting system. Terrible service, and worse accountability. Don't waste your time on them.
