Steve's Painting

I love my "new" 14-year-old house

Steve personally pressure washed the house removing some stubborn ivy suckers from the brick. The 3-man crew painted all the trim, shutters, garage doors, stained the deck and stairs in 10 hours. A great job with great value from great people. Thanks Steve..guys.

Good price and service

Replaced my windshield in 2 hours. The price was first class. I've used Layton with good results on more than one occasion.

ASAP CLEANING SERVICES

Unreliable

Called for an inspection prior to signing a contract at 11 a.m.. People seemed enthusiastic and said they'd come out Saturday at 11 but that they were presently driving and would have to call back. Didn't want my phone number because they said their cell would have it recorded. They never called. At 8 p.m. I re-called. They thanked me for calling and claimed that they didn't call back because somehow my phone number didn't show up on their cell (it's not blocked). Made an appointment for inspection at 11 on Saturday. They didn't want the directions I offered because they said they had a GPS. They didn't show... didn't call... so I had to fire them before I hired them. It's possible that some lame excuse or rebuttal to this review will be offered, but take it to the bank folks... this is the way it happened.

Norman's Electronics, Inc.

Good, but slow

It took five weeks for anyone to even look at my HK receiver. The drop-off invoice stated "approximately 20 days". Obviously, that's WORKING DAYS. Five weeks is a looong time to go without my entertainment center. The tech finished on a Friday. I called the following Monday (again) to ask about status and was told it was finished. They didn't call me as promised, but I may have been on Monday's call list. I don't know and didn't ask. I was just happy that it was fixed. Still, if I hadn't checked myself, who knows; the unit could still be at the shop. The HK works fine. $59 diagnostic fee + $12 for replacing a fuse and cleaning up the system (I refuse to mess with electric stuff any more even if it's a suspected easy fix like a fuse. It only makes things worse when I open up the case). $61 for a fuse and cleanup might sound pricey, but I don't have a problem with it... it's like the $1000 for computer repair joke.. 10 cents for the nut, $999.90 for knowing where to put it. They have to make a living too. Bottom line: I wasn't real happy about the long wait, but I trust Norman's. I've done business with them for more than 10 years and they've never failed to fix my machines even when I brought something out-of-date in like a reel-to-reel tape recorder or turntable.

Benz and Beamer Auto Solutions

Great Price...great service

I called Benz and Beamer and got an estimate $70 less than two other pseudo brake shops (shops where brakes were not their main business). I made an appointment for 10 expecting the job to take 3 hours. It took less than 2. I have peace of mind knowing that a shop that works exclusively on Mercedes and BMW did my repair. While under the car, the owner also fixed my splash pan free of charge. He noted a couple of other minor deficiencies (strut leaking) and will call with an estimate for that shortly. There are plenty of places to go and things to do by Benz and Beamer, just 1.5 blocks east of the Big Chicken.
