I rate this Salon with all 5 stars. My experience was wonderful. Upon arrival, I was greated immediately. I was directed to the wall of numerous photos and prices to find the style (prices located in the top left corner of each photo) that suited my need. Once I found the style and price that I wanted, I communicated that to the stylist and never had to revisit this part of the interaction again, which I loved. This was my first visit to this salon and to my surprise I was pleasantly taken aback at the wonderful customer service, the atmosphere and the business saavy of the stylist(s). My hair was done in about 4 hours and it looks fantastic! I wasn't in any pain and the compliments have been non-stop. I have an extremely picky bunch of friends and they have had nothing but wonderful things to say about my hair. A few of them are booking appointments. I always had a somewhat negative perception of African salons and the negative attitude of African women towards us American women, but that theory was a horrible misinterpretation of my experience at 138 African Braid Salon. What a wonderful experience and Ruth (my new stylist) was fantistic! I asked for individual micro braids according to the photo and price outlined on the wall and they gave me exactly what I asked for....yippeee. They accepted debit cards and they provided the hair all for an inclusive price of $150.00. Well worth the money and I will definitely be patronizing this business again. Thanks Ruth.

Run from this place, they are completely unorganized, have no knowledge of hair care, and have no customer service skills. They braided my hair too tight, my edges fell out, I went back to consult with them and could not get a straight answer on how to care for my hair, they could barely speak english and then they put me on the phone with the owner who also knew nothing about how to care for damaged hair. When I finally did see him he looked at my hair and shrugged his shoulders and said "doesn't look that bad to me". Well sir, it was not your edges balding it was mines, so I got no resolve or sympathy from him. He was too busy having everyone sign in multiple times on their registration tablet. After major frustration, I let them take my braids out and to then to to my dismay, I noticed that most of the braider's were also bald or had no edges, gee no wonder they could not tell me about proper hair care. For some ungodly reason, I then proceeded to let them give me a weave, of course, forgive my ignorance and vanity but I just could not go around showing my now balding edges, I figured what the heck I can always restyle a weave. I bought my hair from their store next door, and the hair was of bad quality. Once the weave was in I looked in the mirror and it looked like a two year old put this weave in my hair, it was awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Mind you the charge for all of this was around $200. One word for this place "RUN"

I have been doing business witht his salon for about a year now. Started out getting me and my daughters hair done ($120.plus tip for my daughter, $145.00 plus tip for me), my last two visits have been less than pleasureable. This last vist was the worst by far. I am not pleased with my kinky twist, they want to tell me that they look okay, but none of them paid the $145.00, I did, to this day I can't get any resolution with the owner of the business...
