great place to shop, 8/01/2009

I was so impressed with the selection and with the service. I bought several items and felt the pricing was great. Very honest and straight forward on what is antique and what was newer. I like that... alot. Well worth the time it takes to get thru this HUGE store.

I always walk out with the unexcepted, 8/01/2009

The selection is vast with reasonable prices. If you know what you are doing you can find some great buys. The staff is beyond hospitable. They almost give a new meaning to obsequious. And I mean... that in the best way.

Dresscode optional?

I went into the 14st Antiques regarding some custom framing. I was assuredly not dressed up, and possibly don't give out an auction house vibe, but when I spoke to the framer ( Holt, who was very polite and friendly and well informed ) he kept mentioning cost effectiveness and referring me to Sam Flax, because it would be cheaper. I was a little put off by this. ( hence 2 stars ) However, the gallery was beautiful and diverse ( I looked around while during my short wait ) and everyone was helpful, in their way. Just tuck in your shirt.
