It would have been cheaper and we would have had fewer headaches if we had just hired subs ourselves and skipped the middle man, especially since Bob didn't do any of the actual work. You never knew which Bob you would get at your house or on the phone—friendly Bob or rude, belittling Bob that said your ideas were stupid. Multiple times we were told we were wrong, too picky, we were sabotaging our renovation, and that we made up problems that didn't exist. The subs he hires out were usually on time, but none were able to get the job done the first time. Four different painters and drywallers came out and it still looks bad, the plumber forgot to turn the water off and flooded our bathroom and made the ceiling in our basement rain, and the demo crew punched two holes in our living room wall (I could go on and on). Like the previous review, Bob complained about his drive to our home, even though our city is listed on his website, and when we tried to make our final payment via credit card he said he hadn't accepted credit cards in over a year. Throughout the renovation he claimed he didn't receive our emails & voicemails and would ignore repeated requests to discuss our invoices, problems we were having, and mistakes that were made. By the end of it we just wanted to be done with him, so we paid our last payment even though the work isn't fully completed. I would never recommend him to anyone, especially females because he clearly has a problem with women that have opinions.

I contracted with A1Stop based on BBB ratings, but discovered that doesn't always tell the whole story. The owner doesn't do the work, just hires other people to do it. His contractors showed up (and in one case didn't) on what I describe as a "spur of the moment" schedule (framed in a half day on a Monday, but drywall not done until the weekend). I told the owner my main requirement was to have shelves that could handle a lot of weight in the closet he was building. Even though his carpenter did not agree that wire shelving was sufficient, he had them put them in anyway. He later said that "we decided the shelves would add too much weight", meaning he and I decided, when the fact was the HE was the one who decided. My guess is the wire shelves were cheaper. When I put the first box on my new shelf on the left side, the right side bounced up, since there were no supports on the sides.. When I put a heavy box in the middle, you can clearly see the sag on the shelf. When I complained, he told me later he only did this job so he would get a bigger one from me that he had also quoted. He then complained that I paid with a credit card without telling him that upfront (he said he is charged 2% for that), even though his website clearly shows he accepts charge cards. He also complained that it cost him money to drive to my home even though his website clearly lists my city as one of his service areas. I would not recommend this company to anyone based on my experience.
