Sherrie has been working with our son for the past 8 months. He needed some extra help with fine motor and social skills in his pre-k class. Sherrie worked with my son on a weekly basis and was excellent about keeping me readily informed about exactly what she worked on with him and in giving me suggestions for what I can do at home. We have seen a huge improvement in his fine motor skills and in his ability to initiate play with his peers. Most importantly, Sherrie has been a wonderful resource for me in helping me figure out what is best for my son in terms of his upcoming kindergarten schooling. Knowing what your child needs makes a huge difference when looking at different schools. We can't say enough good things about Sherrie - she really is a caring tutor who wants the best for her kids.

Sherrie was an incredible influence on our son and played an integral role in shaping him during his preschool years. We are so thankful for how she helped him and would highly recommend her for classroom facilitation! Things that she worked on with him were initiating play with others, taking turns with others, and feeling more comfortable around his peers. He is a completely different kid and now thrives in the classroom! We can't thank her enough!

Sherrie helped my 3 year old with social difficulties transfer to a new school. She was encouraging, supportive and loving to both myself and my daughter. With her help, we had an extremely seemless transition. She helped build confidence in my daughter to communicate and interact with others. She built my confidence in times I needed a boost. I would recommend her to anyone.

Sherrie has been working with my daughter for various months now and has been wonderful! My daughter was recently diagnosed with an expressive processing disorder and tutoring was recommended to help her learn key concepts she would need as she approached Kindergarten. Sherrie has been very encouraging and patient with my daughter during the process of helping her grasp those key concepts. She does a wonderful job of communicating what has taken place during the sessions with us after each visit. She has been consistent with her attendance to the sessions and has also been flexible with us when things have come up with our schedule. We have been extremely pleased with her service and would highly recommend her to anyone in search of a tutor for their child.

Sherrie was an invaluable resource to our familiy as we struggled to determine the best course of action for my 2 1/2 year-old son who was having difficulties in his preschool class. She was able to keep him on task so that he could continue learning and participating in a meaningful way, and she did so with the ultimate in kindness and patience. She kept me informed of his progress daily, and I truly felt as though Perhaps just as important, she offered a wealth of advice, support, and assistance to my husband and I as we evaluated the options for his future educational needs. Discovering that your child requires additional help can be unsettling and overwhelming, so a parent needs a professional who can help navigate through the abundance of questions, resources, and options. Sherrie is that person!

Sherrie was absolutely amazing. My son was struggling with attention issues and having a difficult time in his preschool class. With Sherrie in the classroom, he was able to participate more fully and work on developing appropriate interpersonal relationships with his classmates. Sherrie worked with my son three days a week and gave detailed daily reports--I felt like I always had an accurate depiction of how his day was. She is so sweet, gentle (but firm when she needs to be) and loving. If your child is struggling, please call Sherrie--she will bring out the best in him or her.

My son's pre-school teacher and I thought it would benefit my son to have some tuturing to get him ready for Kindergarten and so I was referred to Sherrie through the pre-school. We started a few months before pre-school ended and tutored through the summer. It was the best thing I could have done for my son. He not only gained valuable knowledge but also the confidence he needed to start Kindergarten. Sherrie was very patient with him and gentle. She brought creative ways of learning which he needed to stay focused. Sherrie was very organized and always kept me very informed of his progress. She provided me with ideas and materials that I could help him with at home. I always felt like Sherrie was very invested in my son and truly cared about his growth and development. I would recommend Sherrie's services to anyone. My son was comfortable with Sherrie from the start and truly enjoyed his time with her every week.

Sherrie first started working with my son when he was in Georgia pre-K as a community special ed teacher in DeKalb County. After she started "A Better Chance" we continued to use her services in private pre-K as well as Kindergarten. She has meant so much to my son - giving him confidence, focusing on the areas he needed help with, coming up with new ways to help him learn, guiding me to speak to his teachers and attending IEP meetings with me. She is remarkable in communicating with parents - I could call her any time and she often called me with concerns or ideas. We had a "traveling" notebook where she kept me up to date through sharing detailed notes about their activities as well as his behavior - and I could in turn comment or share. We moved to another state recently, but Sherrie continues to stay in contact to follow his progress and even came to see him when we recently visited Atlanta. The world would be a different place if more educators were like Sherrie.

My son has PDD-NOS (mild form of autism) and was having difficulty in preschool. He liked school but had difficulty with play ideas, socializing with other kids and transitioning between tasks. I wasn't sure if it was the right place for him since he was more of an "observer" and not actively participating in class activities. Based on a recommendation from his OT and Speech therapists, I was going to pull him out of preschool and place him in classes like art and music that allowed the parent to stay with him. I told the Director I was going to pull my son out of school and she recommended talking to Sherrie. I started using her in December and he was a totally different kid in school by February! She facilitated play with other children and got him to stay focused and participate in circle time (previously he would zone out). The teachers and I were amazed with his progress and how he seemed to bloom once he got some specialized guidance/facilitation in the classroom setting. These skills transferred outside of school and I noticed he started trying to play and interact with kids in the neighborhood. My son would not have been able to finish this year of preschool without Sherrie's assistance and I would highly recommend her to anyone with a child that needs some extra help in school or play/social skills. My son will be back to preschool in the fall and I will definitely hire Sherrie again if needed.

Sherrie was an aide for my son with PDD-Nos for about a year. In that time, he made amazing strides, in no small part to her support and approach to therapy. We used Sherrie as an in class aide, and also to run facilitated play dates from our home. She is loving and makes therapy fun, but is always pushing. Its the ideal mix you want for a special child. I would highly recommend to Sherrie to any family in a similar situation. (NOTE: The only reason I did not score a 5 in value is because autism/ADHD services are notoriously expensive. Within that world, Sherrie is more than fair)
