Too Crowded
Way too crowded! Holding 2 separate classes in one large room is not conducive to a fun or relaxed experience. The trainers have to shout (sometimes they wear microphones and they still need to shout).
Not enough one on one help. Pretty disorganized--homework handouts don't match what is taught in class, instructors sometimes seem "spaced out" but maybe that's due to the noise level in the building.

Not Satisfied
I would say the same as mmwhitney. See review, "Preview Class Before Enrolling." I agree 100%.

Wonderful Instructors! Two paws up!
This place is terrific. I have trained two dogs at ADOG. We have had such success with their program. Have earned multiple titles on both dogs. Started up with the Puppy classes and moved on through Pet Manners and got hooked by the Obedience bug because these instructors are so good! Many years of experience, lots of different dogs, great ideas on how to work with your dog. They all take time to work with you. Spent time with me and my two after class on many occasions to work through a particular problem. These guys go above and beyond. Two paws up from my crew!

PREVIEW CLASS BEFORE ENROLLING
January 20, 2006: My husband and I enrolled our 7 & 10 year old English Springer Spaniels in ADOG's Pet Manners class and attended the first 2 of 6 sessions. If you're thinking about taking your dog(s) for training at ADOG, we strongly encourage you to preview the class beforehand. Not only was the facility not what we expected (2 concurrent classes are held in the same large room - very noisy & distracting for people AND pets) but in addition, the class didn't match the description on their web site. FYI Pet Manners is targeted to new owners of puppies & young dogs. People who have had dogs for 10+ years don't need a class on care, grooming, etc.

After the 2nd class, even though we were frustrated at the disconnect between the class and its description, we wanted to give it our best shot and asked if it would be possible to switch to a class that wasn't held at a time when another one was going on. When we were told there wasn't one available we asked for a refund for the remaining 4 sessions. They offered us a 50% refund, which is better than nothing, but had we previewed the class we wouldn't have enrolled.

Overall the facility is clean, well-maintained and offers reasonable pricing, but the instructors' teaching styles and communication skills leave much to be desired. The prevalent attitude is that if you & your dog do not fit their cookie-cutter mold, they're not going to take time to ask questions and make suggestions to address your specific needs.

We place students in the class that best fits what they tell us their training level is and what behaviors they are trying to teach and/or rectify. It seems in this case, we did not recommend the appropriate class. We could have resolved the situation by moving the students to a more advanced class if given a chance, but we were not notified until the session was half over. At that point, the student did not want another class, only a refund. Our refund matched the amount of instruction they had received and we are terribly sorry these students did not get what they were looking for.
