We took our two dogs to ARKLE Veterinary Care for the first time recently (a Schnoodle and a Border Collie) for their annual check ups. We were favorably impressed with Dr. Levinson and her staff. We plan to continue using this vet.
I was able to get an appt with Dr L one day after I called and the office staff was very friendly. Dr L was extremely patient and thorough in detailing everything I needed to know about owning two new kitties. She provided complete verbal and written instruction and helpful websites. When I was unable to administer medication I took them into the clinic and she showed me how to do it successfully. She is very personable and I have peace of mind having her as my vet.
We started taking our dog, Shelby, to Dr. Levinson when she was 9 weeks old, and they always treated her as though she was their own pet. Shelby went through some serious medical problems at points, including a snake bite when she was three. I was out of town on business when it happened, but Dr. Levinson, Abe and the Arkle team took extremely good care of her and kept me posted on her progress until I could get back. Every time she was ill, or needed a check-up, or had to be boarded while we traveled, I felt like the Arkle team was capable, prepared, and genuinely concerned about her care. I highly recommend the whole team.
We have been bringing our dogs here for 5 years. Dr. Levinson and her staff are great, and we highly recommend them.
Dr.L was so friendly and informative. Everyone there made me and maddie my dog very comfortable. I look froward to the next visit and so does maddie.
Dr. L. is great. She spends as much time as you need so plan to have to wait for your appointment, but know that she won't rush you. I've owned dogs for 20 years and currently have two dogs. I can honestly say she is my favorite vet by far. She will be honest with you when the problem is you and make great suggestions to correct the problem. She will work with you to come up with a plan for treatment. One of my dogs is currently suffering from extreme allergies so I've been seeing a lot of her. She understands financial issues and does not order tests unless she believes they are necessary. The place isn't fancy, but the care is excellent. She also has a great staff who are also very caring. I highly recommend them.
Dr. Levinson is a very knowledgeable and compassionate vet. She is super with my 18 Ĺ year old Maine Coon! She listens to all my concerns and always makes me feel better. Last weekend my cat wasnít eating and he was acting lethargic . I called just before noon on Friday (closing time). She called back that afternoon and talked to me for a while about him and worked him in Saturday to give him an IV and some shots. She did again on Monday. Now he is much better. I know he wonít live forever, but Dr. Levinson treats him like he was her own, doing everything for him that she would for her own cat. She also treats me well because I was a Ďbasket caseí on Monday after a looonnnng weekend. I canít say enough nice things about her. Also Liz, at the front desk, is very nice and friendly and always has a smile.

Dr.Levinson and the entire staff at Arkle Vet Care are just wonderful. All 3 of my cats and my dog are clients. Dr. L devotes a lot of time to each appointment and there is no question that she genuinely cares for the animals. She always takes the time to instruct me on many aspects of pet care. I urge you to bring your furry kids to Arkle Vet Care. You will be very happy!
wonderful vet and staff - one of my cats would be dead if not for Dr. Levinson. She is 13 and looks like a very heathy kitty!
Dr. Levinson has helped with treatment for my diabetic cat, Romeo, and I am happy to report the diabetes is now in remission. She also has neutered several pets for me. When she felt it was in the best interest of the pet, she referred me to a specialist for dental care (they had expertise and equipment needed to more closely examine teeth prior to extensive extractions). I have found that the Dr is willing to take the time to discuss pet care options and provide suggestions for handling many situations, for example she found videos online to help me learn how to monitor glucose levels in my cat, and also suggested coating medication with peanut butter to make it easier for me and the puppy. It is obvious to me that excellent care for my pets is a primary objective of Dr Levinson and her staff. I also like them! :)
The personalized service that you & your pet get at Arkle is like none I have ever experienced. They have the best prices in town on microchipping. The vet tech there specializes in hugging and communing with your pet at their level as the first order of your visit. That is when you begin to realize you are not at just any ordinary clinic. Roxanne will end your appointment with a detailed typed summary of every item that you & she spoke about during the visit, along with definitions of each medication & test run on your pet, including his/her photo. Any follow up questions or concerns that you may have for your pet is answered quickly by the office or the vet. One visit to the website is enough to convince anyone of the exceptional service that this veterinarian offers to your beloved pet, who is treated like a V.I.P. patient.
My "found" 5 year old cat, "Capn. Gray" was diagnosed with conjestive heart failure and given 3 to 6 months to live. With Dr. Levinson's loving, informative and total care my baby is now past the three month mark and doing fine. Thank you so much Doc.!
Dr. Livenson's "bedside manner" was condescending, belittling, and rude. I was there for 1 hour and 35 minutes to have my dog get shots. I heard her questioning the staff outside the room and getting annoyed that they hadn't asked enough questions, etc. As I listened, I wanted to open the door and say, I am right here, just ask me instead of chastising your employees. My dog did not feel comfortable at all, nor did Dr. Livenson strive to make him feel comfortable. She made me feel like a failure as a dog owner; I rescued my dog who would have been put down if I had not taken him in. She told me that "I see dogs like this all time, and there is no reason why they should live like this this...I see them put down all the time." She made me feel like I was terrible and a failure. I was almost in tears, but I held it in until I got in the car. She is terrible. My father is a physician, and if his demeanor was anything like hers, he would work in a dilapidated building off Concord Road just like Dr. Livenson.
I am so sorry you and your dog had such a bad experience at our clinic. We all spent a great deal of time giving nervous pets treats, talking calmly to them and giving them time to get used to the exam room and us during their visits. You stated that you were not the person that usually took your dog to the vet, and I had seen in his prior records that a tranquilizer was prescribed before his last visit to that vet. This information just strengthened my desire to put your dog at ease, and try to help him learn that he didnít need to be so nervous at the clinic. You did leave out the most important part of what I said about 'seeing dogs like this all the time', namely that I never wanted to see another dog euthanized because of treatable behavior problems again and thought that your dog had great potential to be much happier at the vetís office with just a little work. This is why I recommended a pet trainer and briefly went over some ways for you to teach your dog to be less nervous. I sincerely apologize if my efforts to help your dog made you feel bad in any way. Rescued pets always mean a special owner, as they have saved an animalís life or at the very least made it immeasurably better.
Your visit was also lengthy because we consider a complete history vitally important to evaluating and maintaining your pet's health. I review each new pet's current & past history before examining them, and if there is missing information, I ask about it, and if needed we contact the prior vet for additional information, usually while you and your pet are in the clinic. These extra steps to do a more complete job, including making sure our records of your petís current physical status, treatments and recommendations are legible and complete do take time, but can make a huge difference if your pet becomes ill in the future.
I appreciate your comments about overhearing what was said, although I did not know it sounded so awful. Everyone at ARKLE does a phenomenal job, and I am incredibly lucky to get to work with such bright, compassionate and responsible people. I will be more careful about how I handle patient care discussions in the future, and do appreciate your information on that topic.
ARKLE has state of the art ultrasound, digital radiology, recently updated in-house emergency blood testing equipment and all of us at ARKLE take continuing education courses so we can provide the best care possible for every pet we see. I am sorry if you feel our practice is inadequate for your petís needs. Over time, there have been and will continue to be improvements to the clinic physical plant, but these are not as high a priority for ARKLE as having the tools needed to keep pets healthy. I am truly sorry we were not a good fit for you and your pet, and sincerely hope you are able to find the right practice to keep your dog happy and healthy for as long as possible.
