Point 1: Unreliable - The car was not ready when promised. We were only informed of this 45 minutes after we arrived at the time they specified it would be ready. 2 days turned into almost 1 week. Point 2: Car damage - When we arrived the second time, we found a huge dent on the back, driver-side door. Jimmy claims it must have been a door that dented it in the parking lot. The door was smashed in. Point 3: Demeaning - Jimmy refers to women as "dear" and "darlin'", which comes across as demeaning. Bottom line - go somewhere else (anywhere else!)

This has to be one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. I cannot even begin to list the problems that I had with them in this space. They had to put three transmissions in my truck, because the first two were installed improperly and burnt out. Only on the third try did they bother to flush out all the old clutch material that was causing the unit to overheat. My truck was in their shop for over two weeks, costing me approximately $1600 in lost work and rental fees. I was told that they were working on the truck when in fact they hadn't started. The second time they gave the truck back with a major oil leak. I was promised around a dozen times that I would be finished by a certain day, and it wasn't. They misdiagnosed the issue several times. The manager told me I needed to speak with the owner, and the owner refused to speak with me. There is no way I would ever use this company again.

My wife has a 95' Civic and her transmission went out in 2002. My parents have always used AAMCO and I'm glad I kept the tradition going. I stopped by Decatur AAMCO for a quote and was pleasantly surprise. We plan on keeping the car for the long run so we purchased a lifetime warranty for piece of mind. We are happy to advise we have put about 125k miles on the transmission and have not had any problems at all. My 95 Accord's transmission died about a year ago and based on the quality, speed and fast friendly service from the first experience it was not a hard decision so I opted for the lifetime warranty again. I highly recommend the AAMCO in Decatur, been a very satisfied customer since 2002.

My long time Subaru dealer said my Forester needed a rebuild of the auto transmission + new front and rear differential, costing 7K-9k minimum. Meanwhile Joe the service manager at AAMCO tested my vehicle for free and said it wasn't the differential. I just needed 1 new front and 1 rear wheel bearing. They replaced the bearings for aproximately $350 and did my auto transmission rebuild for $1600. At first I was a little sceptical but from now on I will highly recommend the AAMCO at Decatur for all my auto repairs. Daniel S. Pearson, very happy client

Power steering would act like manual steering...went to several repair shops and diagnosis was very expensive (anywhere from $500 to $1,000. Didn't realize Aamco did more than trans work. They fixed ...it was a sensor (part about $30) and I've driven about 800 miles with no problem since. I'll go back there.

Started having some problems at slow start and turns...thought it was the transmission and took it back. Jimmy and Chris the owner went out of their way to find the problem and fix it and I would not hesitate to go back. Senior Citizen

If you are one to keep your car forever, like me, and the engine needs major work, or the engine needs replacement, or your transmission you will get great dependable work from these guys at a reasonable rate. You basically have 3 choices, fly by night guys, the dealer, or the guys at AAMCO. Fly by night guys usually do shoddy work, the dealer takes you for a ride all the way on price. AAMCO will fix it right, close to the FLY BY price; but, they'll do it right. I've been to them 3 times now for major work and have been satisfied immensly.

A friend of a friend referred me to this AAMCO location. Even though there is an AAMCO within a half mile from my home, I chose to go with this location 30 miles away. Definitely well worth my trip.
