Affordable Plumbing and Septic

I often use Kudzu and value customer reviews. I can read between the lines when someone's expectations are a bit unreasonable. I am writing to warn others that they are far from affordable and frankly unfair. The original tech was not competent. He told me I needed new parts for my toilet and charged $380. After he left, I examined the toilet and saw big crack in the tank. So I needed a new toilet not new parts. I spoke with Rick about the issue and he said they usually charge over $300 to replace a toilet anyway so it was a wash. I later found that others would have charged $150 to $200 total. They are responsive and Rick is professional, but their prices are not fair and competitive. If you have sewerage backing up into your home and they are the only people available then they can probably do the job. But shop around. I learned my lesson.

I had my septic tank pumped by affordable plumbing and they did a fantastic job. Rick and his worker were professional, ontime and got the job done in a timely manner. I will use them for future plumbing issues. Dont waste your time calling other companies, you wont regret going with affordable plumbing and septic.

I've found a great roofer, alarm company, painter, auto mechanic and a few other great companies from Kudzu. Yesterday was the first time I found a company that I will not be recommending or using again. We called Affordable for a simple job of replacing some shower handle stems and the knobs to stop a dripping shower. Before beginning the job, the dispatched tech showed us a standard pricing sheet. We agreed to it but after work began, we realized that the price was extremely high. I spoke with Rick, the manager, during the job. The conversation was somewhat heated on both sides (price shock for us, caught off-guard for him). We agreed to disagree on whether management or the on-site tech could discuss the pricing issue. The work was fine but I've called two other plumbers (highly rated on Kudzu) this morning to compare pricing. I read them work order word-for-word to get an accurate quote. Both companies quoted $150 to $200 less for the job. Normally, we get different quotes for jobs but I assumed a job this small wouldn't require them. That was a very expensive lesson to learn. I'm not advocating against using Affordable but I strongly suggest calling other plumbers first to get competitive quotes before calling Affordable out to your house.

We had a few minor issues with work done by one of the plumbers. Rick came out and fixed everything better than we expected. I have never had better customer service from any service provider! He exemplifies professionalism and knows everything about plumbing.

I had my bathroom retiled, so I needed to have some faucets replaced. Thought this would really be Plumbing 101. The plumber came out at least 5 times - always saying I was missing something he needed. Couldn't figure out if I was missing something, why he couldn't tell me all at one time what I needed, rather than each time saying he needed something else. He even asked my painter if he had clear silicone - shouldn't this be something he had?? I thought most plumbers carried some sort of supplies with them or had a plumbing supply place they could go to, rather than sending me to Home Depot. Very sloppy job - the tile guy had to come behind him and repair the tile around the faucets after he finished. I had to clean up all his trash after he left. Sloppy job - also charged over $200 to connect to supply line to the toilet - less than 5 minutes and he was already at my house, so no real effort involved. Would never use this company again, nor would I ever recommend them.
