Perilous Posillipo!!!, 5/30/2011

My boyfriend and I both ordered the Posillipo. He got it with marinara sauce and I got mine with white sauce. Each of our dishes had multiple fragments of shell in them, ranging from dime-sized to... smaller. We picked several of the pieces out, but my boyfriend did not see a large fragment, nearly choked, and had to spit his food out. At that point both of us lost our appetite, even though we had only eaten a small portion of our meal. When we complained to the manager (also our server), he claimed that any dish with shellfish would have fragments of shell, and that we should be more careful (and yet we have both ordered dishes with shellfish before and have never had this problem). He offered to give us a free dessert but when we declined he attempted to bill us full price for the meal. When we complained again, after arguing with us some more he knocked off the price of one meal and a salad. We were glad he adjusted the price, but we won’t go there again due to the fact that we had to argue for something that should have been offered to begin with, and also because we should have never been served food that had been so poorly prepared.

First Impression ... Not impressive.

""Critical Foodie"" should be a giveaway but let's start at the front door: Greeting was friendly. Linen tablecovers, napkins and potential for a cozy, intimate meal. Drink order was taken and delivered promptly and correctly. The special of the day confidently identified. Salad and rolls arrived in a timely manner. So far, so good, right? The salad was drenched with oil (could have been olive, could have been veg ... no real flavor, just oily) and red wine vinegar. Very unbalanced measurements resulting in a pool of liquid in the bottom of the dish. The rolls arrived in a white soup bowl, and were equally as white as the bowl, literally sitting in a pool of butter. Did not eat the bread. I can only speak to the flavor and texture of two dishes, Chicken Piccata and Eggplant Parmigiana. Chicken tenders were used in preparation of this dish and were tough and bland. My husband, nor I, could cut the ""tenders"" with a fork. The caper sauce was very good. The Eggplant Parm (my ""go to"" first-time visit dish) was very disappointing. My husband compared the dish to Chicken Fried Steak, due to thickness of the eggplant and amount of breading. There was no way I could have sworn there was eggplant in the dish. I will admit that I cleaned my plate as I was starving and, being guests of a delightful couple, opted not to point out short comings of the meal. It appears from other reviews that anything veal may be a better dish for the chef; that is if you eat red meat.

TERRIBLE service and Food

First off- the drink order was wrong. Then, the waiter spilled my fiancé's drink all over his lap and the waiter had the nerve to talk to one of the employees about spilling the drink all over him, laughing about it and then saying he would not take off 10% for doing so (keep in mind we never asked for a discount off of our bill). Our food came and it was disgusting! We ordered Chicken Gorgonzola with Fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken was steamed and flavorless and the fettuccine was a clumpy cheesy mess. Not to mention that it was a friday night and we were the only people in the main dinning hall (that is a BAD sign!) We paid $60 for terrible service and food. We are never going there again! I am actually calling the manager tomorrow. I would have called tonight, but by the time we got home they were already closed.

Bland Food, Overpriced

The food is bland and way overpriced. There are many other Italian restaurants in the area with much better food, the same atmosphere, and lower prices.

Best Italian food Ive had in years!!

I started going to Aldos a few months ago on a friends reccomendation, I had just returned from 3 weeks in Italy and was complaining about how I couldnt find any good Italian food in ATL. I am sold! Aldo's has AMAZING food, its kinda pricey but the portions are big. Alex was our waiter and he was GREAT!!!! The house Cabernet is very good. My favorites are the Mannicoti and the Veal Francese.

Awesome Italian Food, Very Romantic Place

What an excellent place for a romantic dinner! My husband and I have lived in Sandy Springs\rfor 5 years and have passed by Aldo's a few time but heard from some friends that it would\rbe a great place to celebrate our anniversary. What a perfect suggesiton! We were greeted\rby a very nice gentleman (I think the owner) and instantly felt right at home. The service was great,\rand the food was fabulous! We will be back! Thank you for a very nice anniversary dinner!

Excellant food, great atmosphere

This was our first time here and we enjoyed our visit. We were greeted promptly and respectfully. We both had the veal florentine and enjoyed all of it. The salad was plain but excellent. We will be back.

A bad server spoiled my opinion

I dined there with a group of 9 on June 1. A waiter refused to honor our coupon because we did not tell him ahead of time that we had one and to make matters worse, he spilled a dinner down the back of one of the diners and made no ammends to her, no check reduction, no offer of dry cleaning. It was not the right thing to do. My group will not go there again, but I have been back with my husband and food was good. service slow and poor, but we sat outside, that could be it.

Great service, great food

The food here is great, and the servers are friendly. I had eggplant parmesan that was pretty tasty. They bring out garlic rolls and salad before hand that are great!

cocroaches and incorrect order

Well, our kids were served their entrees 10 minutes after we received ours. Their order was simple yet still arrived being the incorrect order. We spotted at least two cocroaches on the cushions behind our seats.\rWe had been to this restaurant many many times and it was always fine but due to this, we will never come back. They weren't even busy.
