Mixed Review - Full Deductible Required
I liked the doctor I saw at Allied and thought he did a great job. I decided to stop seeing him though because of the office's bizarre policy of making every patient pay their full deductible up front. I am not savvy about insurance, so I went ahead and did this. My insurance paid for all but about $70 of my treatment. After checking with my insurance company, I didn't understand how I could've paid a full deductible to this doctor, and yet my insurance company only posted $70. I learned that Allied was holding on to the remainder of my deductible as a sort of debit card for each time I visited. It took me several calls to Allied, my insurance company and my employer's benefits administrator to understand what had happened and that this was not a normal business practice. Worse still, is that I paid Allied my full deductible out of my flexible spending account. The people in Allied's Accounting Department were really nice, but it was very frustrating to hear that they have this ridiculous policy because, "if they don't get the money from people up front, they will never get it". Yikes. I did recently receive a check for what was left of my deductible. I'm so disappointed though because (a) I'm still in pain and need to find a new doctor and (b) have a giant administrative mess to clean up with my flex/spend account. To summarize, you may get a good doctor at Allied, but beware & be ready to fork over your entire deductible on the first visit.
