It's stunning that this company has been staffed with so many who're willing to lie again and again and again. First of all, they no longer do HVAC or electrical and haven't for over a year, even though their website still says they do. Secondly, they're one of those who "presell" jobs, insisting on upfront payments, or partial payments. Don't do it! You'll never see that money again, even if the job is never done. Even when you've got the credit card statement and invoice that proves you paid them money, they'll all claim they no longer have the paperwork that proves you paid.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Our garage door was not working so we called them out, and we were quoted a $59 service fee that could be applied to the service cost. Try 1 - Appointment window from 3-6, and my wife missed a call at 2:20 saying they were at our house. She received a call at 2:50 and she told them she was leaving work and would be home soon. They rescheduled because the technician had already left (This was at 2:50, 10 minutes prior to the appointment!) Try 2 - This time the appointment was scheduled from 4-7 to make sure we would be here if they showed up a little early. This time we got a call at 2:50 saying they would be here in 30 minutes! Luckily I could get home in time to meet them, even though AGAIN they were 40 minutes early! The technician said there would be a $99 minimum labor charge, and I agreed. 15 minutes later all was fixed...and then he hands me a bill for $159! I told him we were told the service fee would be applied to the service and he called his manager. They agreed that the $59 was supposed to be applied to the service fee, but they were charging it anyway because we were not here to meet them when they showed up 40 MINUTES early. Also, they made the technician give us the bad news. Terrible customer service, dishonest business practices and they are afraid to deliver the bad news.

I had used Ameriserv a handful of times for garage door service, so when they added an HVAC and Electrical division in 2014, I called and asked if they could install a microwave and vent it to the outside. They said yes. When the two men arrived, I had to tell them the job (they had not been told) and one of them said "we don't do that; we're electricians". He gave me two options: Pay them for coming out, or pay for the job and they'd send the right men to do it. I paid for the job, but later found they didn't have anyone who could do it. I asked for a refund. They refused, saying it wasnt possible, but they'd give me credit on another job. When I called early this year with another job, they said they had closed those divisions and now do Garage doors only. The problem is that I had downsized, and no longer have a garage. When I told them, they lied and claimed they no longer had any record of my payment. After reporting them to BBB and Ga. Dept of Law, they called, then sent an email saying they approved my refund, (and mysteriously knew the amount). After 3 wks, I called and called, and each time they've said they'd send the money that week or they'd call me "tomorrow", but, of course, they didn't call back, or send the money. When I called yesterday, after 8 months of pursuing them, and 8 wks after they wrote that they approved my refund, Chad, the sales mgr., told me refunds are impossible, and "maybe one day in the future, you'll have a garage".
They did nothing. They took no measurements, ordered no parts. They didn't lift a finger except to take my check.

Must be fake good reviews! I found the company through a Google search when my garage door was stuck down. The first time contacting the company they misplaced my appointment... as I called the next day (Friday) to see where they were they couldn't find me in the system. SMH. To make matters worse I still went with them and reschedule my appointment for the next day (Saturday). The person came out an hour later than my appointment window and said I needed a new motor since this was a very old model that was more than likely discontinued. He tried to sell us the only one he had with him or $499. It was a belt motor which was more advanced than what we had. We went with him after he gave us a discount and we were paid $450. The guy then found out he could not do the work because of our electrical system. After he left the manager called us with other options. He said that he could get the work done and that he would give it to us for $300. He promised that he would have a more experienced technician who was also a manager come out to install it on Monday (today). But first they needed a $150 deposit to place the work order. We were happy to get the discount so we paid the money. They gave us a 2 to 5 time window and never showed up. We called the company four times throughout the day to check on the appointment (they NEVER called us for any update) and they kept confirming between 2 to 5. They never showed or called us!

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! After getting a referral from a relative, I called this company for a quote to repair my garage. The price was so much lower than I expected, I agreed to a deposit on service. I had already scheduled other companies to give me a quote the same day as well and after their quotes came in I started to question why AmeriServ quotes were so low. I did more research and I found that many people are dissatisfied with this company, the product and the service. I requested a refund of my deposit the same day based on the contract. This was in March 2016 and now its September. They have given us the run around telling us the refund is on its way for months now. Last week we finally got a check from them that was dated 8/29/16 and postmarked 9/1/16. I deposited the check against my better judgement and yesterday, the check was returned. Now I am still out of $350 plus return check fees. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!

My wife called Ameriserv to replace a broken spring that was causing the garage door to not operate. We have used them before and felt comfortable calling them for this repair. The call was placed first thing on a Monday morning and later that morning he was there fixing the problem. He was professional, courteous and honest with the price to replace the springs. Chad also noticed a few other issues on the 14-year garage door and fixed them as a courtesy and with no additional charge. This is the third time we have used Ameriserv (at different property addresses) over the past nine years and we continue to have prompt and courteous service from Ameriserv. I would recommend them for your garage repair.

AmeriServe is a terrible and unethical - DON'T do business with this company. Like the other reviews, I experienced 3 install no-show's and after the third one decided that I wouldn't do business with AmeriServe. After listening to many of AmeriServe's president Joel Cobb's on-hold message, I actually requested to speak to him about my problem. You can guess what happened with that request; nothing - no call back, email - nothing! So much for his personal guarantee "to meet my personal needs". Finally, after no response from Joel Cobb, I call AS and told them to cancel my order because I had not received to goods and services I had paid a deposit for. The AS customer service rep apologized and told me that a refund would be processed in 4 business days. After that didn't happen, I initiated a dispute with my credit card company. AmeriServe chose not to do the right thing for the customer, but rather invoked their policy on the invoice statement (small print) that allows them to charge a 50% restocking fee and keep my deposit. So now I will do all I can to relate my terrible and unethical experience with AmeriServe with my friends and social media.

We purchased a new garage door motor from them in Oct 2013. In Sept 2014 it died and had to be replaced under warranty. They still charged me $85 for the service call to replace their defective product. June 2015 the replacement unit died. All they were willing to do was sell me another one at the same price I paid for the first one in 2013. I told them to take a hike. I'm having a new unit installed by another company that stands behind their work and their product. I should also mention the shoddy workmanship. When they installed the unit they left connections with nothing but bare wires twisted together. No terminals, wire nuts, not even electrical tape. DO NOT use these people. The photo is an example of the type of electrical connections you can expect them to make.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are corrupt! The person came to fix our garage door, over charged us about 100$ , and he thought we do not notice that. After we found out and proved it they accepted that it was over charged . I called the componey 9 times to get my money back , they did not return my money back, and now it been 3 months past, and sill did not get it.BE CAREFUL!

I called for a quote, very specific as to my needs. Had to have 2 springs replaced. I was quoted, "best case $99, worst case $199". Technician comes out: $650. I explained what I was quoted over the phone and response was along the lines of, well that's our price, if I don't do the work, there is a $100 service charge. So either have it replaced for $650 or pay $100 for nothing. Called to dispute after having service done and completely left out to dry. No reconciliation.

This company deserves a no star. First time I needed a new chain and remotes, and they were late and had to come back twice to give me remotes that work right. They gave me a sticker for $25.00 off next visit. I believe in three strikes and you're out, so I was willing to give them two more chances at service. The second time they replaced my springs and did not give me the $25.00 off and it was a different technician. The 3rd time my chain was busted. A different tech came and made it sound like big disaster struck and said the motor is damaged and you will need a new system for $600.00. He did not give me a warranty repair on the chain they installed on the first visit. I told him I wanted to repair the chain they installed. He gave me a high price of $189.00. I said yes and gave him parts from this chain and the older chain I kept because he claimed he did not have any parts. He now said he could only install a new entire system. I told him he just gave me a price on a chain repair and now you say you can't do it. I told him to leave and thanked him for no service. He took my parts with him and now, neither technician Ken or Ameriserve will return my parts and denies he took it with him. I found out it takes less than 5 minutes to replace the missing link but you need that chain key link I gave him to put it back. This is not the type of company that anyone should call. NO SCRUPLES! RUN FROM THEM! CALL SOMEONE ELSE! THREE STRIKES, NOW THEY'RE OUT!

Once again, for the 2nd time in 2 weeks, Ameriserv failed to show up to do work as promised today. I guess my time is not important to them. This company is awful and I regret calling them. I am now over 3 months in and have partially installed doors that I cannot lock The worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Needed garage door springs tighten and called for an estimate. Was told $99 and set up an appointment. No show first appointment and late for second. Real issue was the price changed to $289. Talked to Dir. Sales Chaz Allison and he was no help at all...very rude. Needed my door fixed so agreed to $200 and it took the repairman 20 min. to complete the job. Will never use Ameriserv or Best Picks Reports recommendations again.

They will charge you for anything and everything.the service guy told me that a garage door interrupter cup costs 200 dollars while in reality it only costs 4 dollars.thankfully I didn't agree to it. Before the work started the guy said it will cost 300 dollars to reset the door and after the work he says the total charges is 450 dollars.ivhad to argue with him and still had to end up paying 350 dollars.

We needed a new garage door opener and called Ameriserv. The door opener was installed into dry wall, and not studs, so that three months later the bar came flying out of the wall and locked our garage door down. Luckily it did not land on our heads. They could not come out right away and fix it and we had an ice storm coming, so we had to fix the door ourselves. Three months later the door was coming up on it's own. When the field manager came, he adjusted the support bar and checked out the unit, but he left the belt sagging- a sign that the unit will soon break and something you cannot tighten. We called the next day and someone was supposed to come- I cleared my whole schedule and they did not come. so I am waiting because their work is under warranty. I will never use them again if I have another issue. Not ever.
