Brought car in for overheating - was told after initial diagnostics that I probably had a blown head gasket and it would cost $999 for them to remove it and have it tested (not fixed, just tested). They also couldn't tell me why it was overheating, just that the head gasket was a result of it. Told them no on the work and took car to Ford dealership (car is a Ford Focus) who diagnosed that the head gasket is fine but that the fan melted which was the cause of the overheating (American Auto told me the fan was working fine which I already knew wasn't true) and a few other issues that had to be fixed because of the heat..total cost to repair under $1,600.

Have already reported them to the BBB which they are a member of.

I went to American Auto Care on Charleston and have regreted it since. The salesman waived the fee for the diagnostic work due to the fact he did not at ANY time tell me about the fee. Since then the "Owner" of this "Family Business" has called my job threatening me and demanding I pay the fee his own employee waived. Please be careful with this company. To threaten a customer that you will call them every hour on the hour at their place of employment till they pay a fee that was waived after the fact is bad business and harrassment. PLEASE BEWARE AND BE CAREFUL WHEN USING AMERICAN AUTO CARE.
