We adopted a dog from the dog shelter and Tom with American Dog Training came to help us with the training of Sergeant, our Boxer mix. He was the change that we needed in Sergeant's life and he has... dramatically changed him from a timid dog that would nip/bite out of being scared, to a well trained dog that listens and follows our instructions to a "T". He is no longer a liability in our family due to this training. He is a changed dog -- one that we really are happy with. Tom is a very personable person who will accommodate most situations; in our case, he came to our home and trained Sergeant weekly working around our schedule to be a great help. We now count Tom as one of our friends and recommend his work highly. Sometimes I wonder if we should have Tom train our children hoping for the same results.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
chris and his team are awesome! our super sweet pit bull was haveing dog-aggression problems and wouldn't follow our commands. chris came out to our house weekly and the difference in our dog is... amazing! i can now control her on a leash, she listens to commands and is eager to obey. the biggest part of the training experience was me learning how much I was doing wrong. it was much easier for the dog than me but we both passed with flying colors in the end!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

Our experience with American Dog Training was awesome. Mickie was the trainer assigned to Crissy and Prissy, and we couldn't be more pleased. Crissy and Prissy, "Shelties" are more like children to us , than pets. The newest editions to our (4 Sheltie family). They are approx. 12 months of age, and together could be quite the challenge. So as we interviewed a number of obedience facilities, our biggest concern was the treatment of our puppies and the method used for training. I knew that it was going to be a lot of work, but I had no idea the it would be one of the most challenging; yet rewarding experiences of my life. I can't say enough about Mickie. She was always professional, prompt, helpful, easy to talk to and most importantly "available" when I needed help "after hours". We have been so impressed with Crissy & Prissy's RESULTS, that we have decided to continue our training to the "next level". So in closing I would highly recommend American Dog Training for your pet training and also Mickie as their trainer. Nicole & Sam West

I found ADT through a brochure I found at my veterinarians office. Chris came out and explained how they trained, cost, my responsibilities, etc. I thought it was a great idea to train in my home and in my neighborhood because this is where I would need to be in control of my 105 pound german shepard. I have trained other dogs at places where you walk around in a circle in a setting that I would never be in again. Training this way was great! I learned early that my dog is much easier to train than myself! Micki came out once a week for several months. My dog thought she was a great trainer and so do I. Any questions or problems I had, she always had the answer or a solution. We went on walks around my neighborhood to solve any problems I had encountered in the past or would encounter. Baron (my dog) is much happier on our walks and so am I! All my neighbors know and love Baron now that he doesn't jump on them anymore. And it is so fun to "show-off" all of his cool new skills! This is a great company that I will definitely use again! Just remember, if you dont work with your dog except for when the trainer is there, you won't be happy with any dog trainer.

I thought they would laugh in my face when I called about training my 8 month only Micro-Mini Schnauzer who was the "Alpha" in our home ... Six weeks later she has gone from terriorist to obedient sweetheart. Mickie is the best! If she could get me to do as well as Sassy we would really be in business! The cost is a small price to pay to have such a happy, smart puppy that minds through hand signals as well as voice commands. Good girl! Good job!

"Consistency" is the word I will remember the most from our 12 weeks of On and Off leash training with ADT. It is THE most important part of dog training. When we got our 8 month old pound puppy, Penny, she seemed like the most meek and mild dog at the shelter. When we got home, we found out that she wanted to be the "alpha" dog in the house. With 4 children and lots of kids coming over, we wanted a dog who was obedient and had manners. When Chris and Mickie came out with ADT, we were immediately impressed with their knowledge and way with dogs. Penny looked forward to our sessions every week. She was a model student when Chris and Mickie handled her. It was apparent that Penny was capable of being obedient and that she thrived on knowing who was in control. When Chris and Mickie left, it was up to us to be consistent and put in the effort to train Penny. Penny has come a long way! We are very thankful for the training we received and will reap the benefits for many years. Penny has become a much more pleasant dog. ADT provides excellent dog training. I had an unexpected surgery during our training period and I was epecially impressed how understanding and accomodating they were during my recovery. ADT is a very professional and well-run company!

These folks get amazing results. My wife and I have a Boxer that's been in training since he was a puppy and the results are phenomenal. The trainers give great advice and truly care about the dogs and their owners.

American Dog Training has given me back my sanity and prevented me from giving our dog away. We tried to train our German Shepherd ourselves and we were very unsuccessful. He would not listen to anything. He would run out of the house constantly, counter surf, jump on furniture, lunge towards other dogs when walking, etc. After a few sessions with Chris, our dog began to obey commands and has become calmer. We have done on and off the leash training and it's absolutely amazing how well he listens to commands now. Chris helped us change the way we respond and interact with him. This is an excellent dog training service and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks ADT!!!

Very, very good job! Trying to train my dog on my own was frustrating and unsuccessful. After calling American they send Chris out to evaluate my dog and me. It seemed like something was about to change. They are not the cheapest, but I wanted the best and I got it. After the training started I was amazed how George's behavior could change. Walking him now is now fun, he doesn't pull me along anymore, even when other dogs are around. He also knows the much needed Obedience. Thank you for your knowledge and experience. Please feel free to use me as a reference any time.

I was having the usual puppy issues: potty training; chewing furniture; nipping at my heals, separation anxiety and general lack of obedience. I was very impressed with the "in home" evaluation. Chris Zimmerman and Mickie Williams came and met Winston and observed the interaction between myself and my dog. I was asked specific questions so I was not sold services I did not want. Chris made it very clear that I was only going to get out of it what I put in to it. This was a commitment I was making between my dog, myself and American Dog Training. It was going to take hard work and if I expected results, we all would have to work hard and follow through with the training each and every day. Chris and Mickie took the time to meet my dog and created an immediate bond. I saw an immediate improvement in the first lesson: Winston looked to me as "alpha" and stopped testing me all the time. Chris and Mickie gave me practical solutions to such common problems as bathing, chewing and separation anxiety. I liked the training so much that I signed up for protection training as well as a maintenance program. American Dog Training is not just a company, it is a family: when Winston got hit by a car, American Dog Training restructured the training to accommodate Winston's needs. I recommend them without reservation.

We were at our witís end with our English Pointer, Hunter. He had gone after our neighbor and we had already been to court over a previous bite. We knew that one more report would lead him to being put to sleep. With that being said, we were very desperate for a miracle. I had called American Dog Training and we set up a time for Mickie and Chris to come out to do our consultation. They set it up for a Saturday which was very convenient for us. When they came to the door, Hunter acted like he always did and was barking and lunging at them. We had to keep him away for fear that he would attack. When they sat down with us, they explained everything they would be doing and then gave us the program and price. I was a little shocked at first because I believed my dog was beyond help, but we had agreed this was what we needed to do and signed up for a lesson the next week. Mickie came over on time as promised; in fact she came on time for every appointment we scheduled and never once had to cancel on us. We signed up for the 6 week program and started with day one. We learned all the basics and worked with him every week with her and every chance we got. The progress has been absolutely amazing! My dog has gone from pulling on me with a pinch collar whenever he sees anything to being in a submissive stance while there are distractions all around him. This program will only work if you keep consistent and work with your dog. I can't stress enough how happy I am.

this company has the worst customer-service and rip-me off for $750.00. check with the B.B.B. "better busniess bureau" and see how many complaints they have. i wish i had before i was rip-off. Believe me.....

After 36 years of business I think a company would learn a little about customer service. In this situation 2 roommates couldn't get their lies straight about wanting to quit a non-refundable agreement. They didn't know whether they were moving or getting rid of the dog or didn't like the training in order to get their money back. We offered the continuation of their program at a new location or to forward their training to a new owner or to provide a new trainer. As far as the BBB is concerned, there are 2 issues that are satisfied with no customer reply. Anyone interested in our services has an opportunity to call us about any policies that we have concerning this complaint. We are prepared to perform, and in spite of this issue will fulfill the contract to train their dog if they are willing to continue.
Yes, they are expensive, but well worth it. Think of all the destroyed items that you've replaced and you won't think the price is that steep. With that said, I worked with Chris to get my 2 dogs in tip top shape. It was difficult in the beginning. But I learned from Chris that my mentality needed to change. I needed to assert myself as the dominant being in the house and as I learned to do that, my dogs followed in line. So, really Chris not only trained my dogs, he trained me too! And we couldn't be happier.

I was surprised to see any negative comments about American Dog Training and especially their trainer Carole. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for both. Carole is an amazing dog trainer and operates in a very professional manner. She is reliable, prompt and efficient. Carole is a dedicated teacher with an ability to not only connect with a dog, but also to teach an owner how to handle a dog for maximum results. She helped me turn my wild puppy into an obedient and pleasant companion. I would recommend this company and particularly Carole to anyone who wants truly professional training.

Despite having completed obedience training with another company, my border collie was becoming increasingly aggressive towards other dogs. In desperation, I contacted American Dog Training. With support from my trainer and the understanding that it was my responsibility to follow through with his instructions, my dog is now considered the best behaved dog in the neighborhood. I wholeheartedly recommend ADT!
