Scary Experience
I had AHM out to do a summer tuneup in the summer of '06. A slimy salesman came in, took his shirt off and draped it over my kitchen chair. He went out to my AC unit, pulled some parts out and then brought them to my kitchen table. He told me how they were going bad, and I needed to replace them (at a cost of over $300). He then told me that my unit needed to be cleaned (for another $300), but if I bought a warranty plan (at a cost of thousands), they would warranty all of this stuff for 10 years. The problem is, I couldn't get this guy to leave! He hung around, petting my cats and chatting for 3 hrs. before he got to the sales pitch. Finally, I told him no, that I wasn't interested, and all of the friendliness was gone. He went and put my AC parts back in my ground unit, and left big piles of dust on my kitchen table. He put his shirt back on and left. About an hour later, I realized that I was warm. After adjusting my thermostat, I realized that my AC didn't work. I called the company back, checked them out on BBB, and saw that they had 1 serious complaint. After a couple of hours, they sent real AC repairmen here. They explained that the sales guy had broken the part when he removed it, so they replaced them for free. But, the AC system had overheated, and wouldn't come back on. They were prepared to put us up in a hotel, but after cooling down for several hours, our AC finally came on. What a scary experience!
