Unethical billing practices
I saw Dr. Holland 1 1/2 years, every 2-6 weeks. Although I don't have a complaint about her abilities as a psychologist, I have to echo the comments below about her billing practices.
I missed an appt. (they do NOT call to remind you of appts. like virtually every other doctor in the US, but that's not the point) and was billed for a missed appt. I completely understand being charged for a missed appt. What I don't agree with is that the charge for the missed appt was TWICE what they would have received had I actually been at the appt. and received treatment!
I immediately paid what would have been due (including what my insurance would have paid) had I attended my appt. I then repeatedly tried to contact her and discuss the matter, but was refused by her office staff. I even went to the post office, paid to have my letter signed for and opened only by Dr. Holland, only to find that her office staff signed for it, opened it, and did not pass it along to her. I am about to send the payment of the remaining amt., but as a business owner myself I cannot even fathom that someone would rather lose a client who regularly pays every 2-6 weeks over something like this.
I don't think it's unreasonable for me to expect to pay for a missed appt. the same amount that would be paid for a kept appt.
She is marketing her business as a Christian business. These kinds of practices are what make non-Christians call us hypocrites and want nothing to do with the faith.
