I would never go back, 3/19/2011

This guy took my vacuum, kept telling me he was going to fix it, then finally told me after a week that he couldn't. He didn't give me back the hose. When I asked him for it he said he threw it away... because he thought he was going to replace it (but of course he didn't replace it). I don't know if the hose was still good or not. When I asked him for it he just smirked and told me tough luck.I brought my vacuum to another repairman and he told me he heard stories like that all the time about this place. Stay away.

He Might Be Insane and Is Potentially Violent, 8/11/2010

On the morning of 08/11 my wife stopped by to buy bags. Manny told her he would have them in after 1:00. She asked me to stop by and get them. When I got there I was told he was out of stock and... would have them tomorrow. I said, ""Manny you've been telling my wife that for the last 2 weeks, why don't you have any bags?"" He then started screaming at me me that I was a ""whiny crying girl"" ""a fat piece of s**t"" and a ""Jew bastard"". When I pointed out to him that my wife had been doing business with him for years, and his Uncle before that, and my wife had known his Aunt Joyce for over 30 years he told me his ""Aunt was a fat c**t and that my wife was a fat c**t, and that if he didn't have a camera in his store he would be beat until I couldn't walk"" I'm at least 25 years older than this maniac and not a fighter. When i left the store the lady who owns that store next door told me he has been terrorizing everyone up and down the block.Manny's uncle who he got the store from suffered from bipolar disorder and depression for many years. It would seem this young man is heading down the same path. I hope he gets help before he says the wrong thing to the wrong person and ends up severely injured or worse.

The Customer Is Always Wrong

I purchased my vacuum there 6 years ago and originally the owner, Manny, was friendly and efficient - I had done business with his father for over 25 years. I brought my machine in for maintenance on Jan 27 - Manny said he would call me the next day and the machine would be ready. I finally called him on Feb 18 and before I could ask why he hadn't called me for 3 weeks, he interrupted me and aske for the ticket number. He then told me he could not find the ticket and asked me to describe my machine. After being put on hold, with absolutely no apology, for about 5 minutes, he told me he ""misplaced the ticket'"". He told me on Jan 27 it would be $30 and when I called him on Feb. 18 he told me it would be ""fixed todayt"" and it would be $30. When I got to the shop to pick it up, he told me it would be $35. I said that he told me two times if was $30 --- he pulled out his copy and said, ""See, I wrote $35 on the ticket when you brought it in!"" I did not see him write that on Jan.27. My intuition told me that there is something not right with this guy and it wasn't worth $5 to argue with him. I gave him my credit card -- with my complete name on it -- and he called me the wrong name! He has no customer service skills and makes you feel as if you were the problem - I would never go back!!

This guy should be institutionalized

We have dealt with Manny at Andy's Vacuum for several years with no trouble. However, we took the machine in on a Thursday and was told that it needed belts, maintenance and that a gear was broken that made it difficult to push. It should be ready the next day and he would call. He never called. I called him every day and every day he said it would be ready the next day (""it's on my bench now"") and he would call, etc. etc. etc. One week later, I called and told him he had misled me for a week and asked him when it would be ready. He called me a liar and wouldn't give me an answer. I told him we'd be in to pick it up and not to fix it. We were there 15 minutes later - sure enough, he'd put it on his bench and opened it up, took some things out and told us we'd have to take it like that. He was verbally abusive, called me a ""cranky old lady with a broomstick up her ass"" and said he didn't want to hit an old man. My husband is 89. I said I was going to call the police - he said go ahead. So I did. Miraculously, while I was waiting for the officer to arrive, he ""fixed"" the machine in 15 minutes. Told my husband that if he watched him do it, he'd charge us more. I cancelled the call to the police. He said he would only take cash ($65) ,no credit card. When we started out, he agreed to take credit card. We got it home and it still doesn't work! No wonder he wouldn't let us watch. Tomorrow we'll cancel the charge and take it elsewhere. The guy is psycho, unprofessional, and should NEVER deal with the public. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Best Vacuum Dealer Around - Hands Down.

My boyfriend and I went everywhere. We needed a powerful high-quality vacuum (my cat and I both shed like crazy in a wall to wall carpeted place) and we were not interested in dumping our money into something that would break down often or work well for six mos to a year and then suck - no pun intended. Target, Best Buy, Great Indoors, Sears, Lowes, Frys, etc... we asked all kinds of questions. We also visited several different mom and pop-type vacuum retailers/repair shops in the east and west valley. I even called the Dyson manufacturer 800 number. We weren't messing around - we wanted to educate ourselves... and what we learned was that no one in the SF Valley compares to Andy.If you are in the market to purchase a vacuum cleaner, don't waste your time. Learn from our experience and go see Andy. He was the most knowledgeable person we spoke with... but more importantly, he was the most HONEST. He didn't push any particular machine on us. He listened to what we wanted and understood that we were on a budget. He was frank. He wasn't afraid to tell us that the machines other retailers had tried to sell us were good machines. But he was the only one who could explain the differences. He was the only one who really knew about the vacuums and could tell us what worked how and why. He would have been fine with our walking out and purchasing something he didn't carry - the point is, he gave us the information we needed to make the choice that was best for us and we felt totally comfortable with him. No pressure. After we visited other dealers, we decided to go back to Andy. When we went online for his store info, we came across some of the bad reviews. We were concerned - but he was truly the most honest and knowledgeable seller we met. So we went back. He sold a customer a set of vacuum bags while we were deciding which vacuum to purchase, and I overheard him tell her, when she asked about her vacuum model, that her vacuum wasn't as ""great"" as

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST EVER!

I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I took my vacuum cleaner in for repair. I was told to pick it up in two days. it took more than 10 to get my vacuum back. When i got it home it wasn't fixed and i had been charged for the non-service. i took it back, Manny , who claims he's the owner, said he'd fix the problem. A week later it still hadn't been fixed. I told Manny i'd like my vacuum back and a refund for non-service. He became extremely belligerent, and abusive with threats of violence toward me..I'M NOT KIDDING. This guy is a whack job. i got my vacuum cleaner back , without a refund, and chalked it up to a bad experience. But i'm spreading the word: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

DO NOT GO HERE!

I echo all the sentiments here & wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I took in my sewing machine. I took it in on July 1st & was told by Manny that it would be done by the next day. Cut to July 20th & after many excuses & Manny saying he would call me back & then never calling, it is still there. Tomorrow I am going in to pick it up whether it's done or not. I'm guessing it won't be done, & I will have to take it elsewhere. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!

avoid this place at all costs

Oh Man!!\rI echo all the sentiments of the other reviewer. When it comes to customer service it is nonexistent(or should I say what customer service???? )First they kept promising me a date to fix my sewing machine. Its been over 3 months now no machine, phone call. All sorts of promises no delivery! In fact they managed to break a part. I don't know what is going on there but the service is non-existent.,

Andy's Vacuum & Sewing Center: RUDE and DEFENSIVE

This is the only vacuum store I have used--going back close to 20 years. But never again! Manny, the only person working there, is rude and belligerant. I brought my vacuum in for repair on a Friday; he said he would call me either that afternoon or the next morning with an estimate. By Monday I had heard nothing, so I called him. He hadn't gotten to it yet and there were two other machines ahead of mine. He would call me that afternoon or Tuesday morning. I still cut him some slack and waited until Wednesday morning. He kept me on hold for over six minutes.\r\rHe STILL hadn't gotten to the machine. I told him I needed it for Thursday and had told him that when I brought it in. It was going to be ""no problem."" When I said he had never called me, he said he had told me only that he would ""try"" to call but if he called that would be taking time away from doing his work. If I hadn't called him, my vacuum would still be sitting there inoperable. I asked him if I could have a loaner vacuum if mine wasn't repaired in time. He would not answer and said he would call me by 5 p.m. If I hadn't heard from him by 5 I was then allowed to call him.\r\rHe is cocky and arrogant. When I picked up my machine, I asked if he was the owner and he said he was. I was tempted to tell him that I would never return and was going to tell everyone I knew in the neighborhood to go elsewhere. But I knew he would be defensive and rude and figured what the hell. I am never going back there. If I treated my clients the way he treats his customers, I wouldn't have a business. Maybe he's off his meds.

THE OWNER MANNY IS IRRESPONSIBLE, CARELESS, INCONSIDERATE and OBNOXIOUS...

The owner (Manny) is IRRESPONSIBLE, CARELESS, INCONSIDERATE and OBNOXIOUS. I took a steam cleaner water tank in for repair. Manny said he needed to order the part and that it would take approximately 5 days. I called him five days later, and he told me that he had simply ?forgotten? to order the part. I called another five days later and he told me it usually takes 10 days to get the part. Okay, so I called back again five days later and he told me it had been delivered to ?his other store? (I later came to find out - there is no other store). As instructed by Manny, I called back another three days later, and he told me that he had simply ?ordered the wrong part?. When I questioned him on his incompetent business practices, he said ?he was not going to go there today, or any other day?? When I expressed my opinion that conducting this kind of poor business would probably result in calls to a certain local business complaint bureau, his reply was: ?Yah...That?ll do a lot?. When I asked him who the owner of his business was, he told me that it was ?irrelevant?. It is a shame that this business has turned into what it has turned into, because for years I have been a loyal customer and received great service. But now, do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! There are plenty of other quality vacuum and sewing stores in the 91403 and 91423 zip codes, where customers will hopefully never have to deal with this kind of abuse.
