don't use this vet!, 8/06/2012

I took my cat there in 2006. She was sent home sicker than she was when we took her in. The vet misdiagnosed her, did unnecessary surgery and gave her vaccinations while she was sick. The day after... we brought her home, I showed the invoice to my neighbor who was a vet tech at another clinic. She took one look at it and said they shouldn't have operated and never should have vaccinated a cat while she is sick. I took the cat to my neighbor's clinic for additional treatment and to recover from this fiasco. She's fine now, but I don't know how Animal Fur1st has stayed in business all this time.

Overcharges customers; medicre service, 5/17/2012

Brought my dog in yesterday for a Bordatella vaccine, walk in. $12 vaccine plus $35 "max office visit" charge. Today, the dog groomer noted a really bad ear mite infection that I thought was red... yeast - the doctor didn't even check my dog's ears, and when I called back today, insisted that if I would like antibiotics, I would need to pay another $35 "office visit," plus an "ear check charge" and antibiotics. Doctor absolutely refused to waive revisit fee, even though he charged me $35 and didn't even check out my dog. This office is not thorough and exorbitantly overcharges customers - will not be going back.

Five years with Animal Fur1st

I have been taking both of my dogs to Animal Fur1st ever since I got them five years ago. The quality of service has always been excellent. In addition to annual checkups & vaccinations, I have taken my dogs here for the following services: * neutering at 6 months old, * surgery to repair a paw that was badly cut on a buried piece of metal while digging in the back yard, and * surgery to repair a badly cut hind leg caused by a fight with another dog. Every time, Dr. David has been helpful and straightforward. I was a new dog owner when I adopted my dogs and have received good advice from him over the last five years. He is also very reasonable. In one case, as soon as I took my dog home from surgery, he completely soaked his bandage by stepping into his water bowl. Dr. David replaced the bandage immediately at no extra charge. I hope my review provides balance to the "1-star" comments, which, based on my experience, do not appear fair or representative.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE

I took my cat into this vet b/c she was pregnant and getting a little too bit. I just wanted a check-up and bloodwork done but he proceeded to tell me that he couldn't let me leave with her that he would keep her, give her a c-section and then put her down b/c she was "sick." when i said, uhh...no she's been fine. He came up with another excuse to then charge me extra for not following his orders - i told him he couldn't legally do that, but that i would gladly sign a waiver releasing him but that he couldn't charge me $100 just for not heeding his killing of my cat. Then he got angry and found some other horrible excuse that she would be dead within a day. i picked up my cat and ran. She had her kittens - 12- the next day, all perfect, and she's still happy that was four years ago...not one disease yet.

PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS TO "DR" DAVID

If you care about you pets....please don't take them to this hospital. First they are extremely unprofessional. It starts from the lady answering the phone to the main doctor who doesn't seem to have any emotions towards your pet. He will suggest that he operate on your pet no matter how minor the problem. I took my beloved dog (R.I.P) to him for neurological problems and he wanted to open her stomach to see what was wrong with her. I refused because there was no clearity is to why he wanted to operate on her sooo bad. They are all about just money and they will prolong the treatment. he also is very gREAT AT charging you more for everything and then reducing your price to regular price and act like he is giving you this great deal. When he doesn't know how to handle his customers he calls police on them and doesn't come outside to deal with it. He's disgrace to all the professional vets out there. Please don't put your pets through this ordeal because your pets can't tell you how bad this vet and his staff treat them. Many people have lost their loved ones under this doctors care. Please read the negative reviews very carefully and do the right thing!!!!!!

Dr. David is great!

I took my elderly cat to see Dr. David for a 2nd opinion after learning that he had cancer. The other vet only suggested surgery and would not discuss other options, or explain his disease and condition (I was told to Google it). Dr. David was completely open about everything and explained what types of treatment are available, their typical outcomes, and the cost. The prognosis is not great, and in the end we decided against surgery. Dr. David never made us feel guilty about that decision, instead he told us to keep our kitty comfy and some things to look for so we know when it will be time to let him go and ease his pain. After so many visits and expensive tests with the old vet, and many nights of tears, confusion, and guilt, I cannot tell you how much his caring, yet straight forward approach and information meant to us. We are very grateful to him!

Worst experience I have ever had! STAY AWAY!!!

I took my cat, Puppy, there a few years ago when he got attacked by a dog (this clinic was closest one in Atlanta open on Sundays). I brought him in, and after taking one look at him they quoted a price in the $2500 range, telling me that was just at first glance, but to expect it to be much higher. And told me they wouldn't even begin to check him out for under $250. The attitude the vet was giving me was awful, too. I had a cat dying in my arms, and he would do nothing more than glance at Puppy, period, until I paid. I just wanted my cat to stay alive, so I told them to please start immediately whatever had to be done. My friend who drove me there (I was too upset to drive) recommended I call one of the other vets also open, which I did. The vet said Puppy could be seen immediately, and so I decided to bring him there. I asked the tech if Puppy was stable, and they said yes. I then told them that I wanted to take him elsewhere. They refused to give me my cat until I paid the $250 base charge. (Puppy had been there for less then 10 min) I asked what they had done for him, and they said they put him on fluids, that was all. They said the vet didn't have the time to examine Puppy yet. $250 for fluids! I paid it, then took Puppy elsewhere. The new vet was horrified when I told them what had happened. She said a bag of fluids should cost, at most, $35. After all was said and done, Puppy lived! But I would never recommend going to Animal Fur1st!

Dr. David is beyond compare

We have been seeing Dr. David since 1997 when our pound puppy was diagnosed by him with parvo. After parvo, he got distemper. And lived, thanks to Dr. David. Our next dog was saved from certain death twice by him (2000 car accident and 2002 pancreatitis). With the car accident, Dr. David could have taken the easy route and amputated his leg, but he refused to give up. After 6 weeks of trying, our dog was able to go home--leg intact. In 2005, our beloved cat was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, an illness with a less than 20 % chance of 6 month survival, but he is with us more than 2 years later. Even Dr. David is amazed at his success. We love this guy and you will, too.
