My husband is writing this one.
I have dealt with dozens of head hunters over the years. From both the job-seeking and hiring sides of the relationship. Most are little more than used car salesmen, attempting to place anyone in any job regardless of qualifications just to get the sale.
Apex is a little different. They actually do a reasonable job of screening prospects against positions.
The have placed me in two jobs, one was a short-term position, the other 6-months contract to hire which resulted in my current full-time job. I have seldom heard of a recruiter actively trying to to re-place a contractor beyond their initial engagement. That was a pleasent surprise.
Their recruiters may not know tech any better than most. But while staffing a project they have been able to supply us with sufficient prospects to fill the positions. To date only 2 of the contractors we have brought on (out of about a dozen) have not been hired at the end of their contract and we have very high standards.
