The hostess seated us without menus or silverware, so we got a menu from another table. A server came up and said that she shouldn't be waiting on us because her other tables were on the opposite side of the restaurant, but she took our appetizer and entree order anyway. When our food came, we still didn't have silverware so we flagged down the bartender to get some. We had to ask a manager passing by for drink refills. When my medium rare steak came out, it was black and brown so I asked a busser (since our server was nowhere to be seen) to please order another one for me. After about 10 minutes our server finally came by to check on us (my husband had finished his meal by then) and saw my uneaten steak. She said she'd have to take it back to the kitchen before they'd make me another one. At this point we were running late, so we asked for my food to go and our check. My 2nd steak was bloody and purple-red. We were there over an hour and it took another 15 minutes to get the bill. We asked to quickly speak to the manager about our experience, and he denied that they were short staffed (?!), but he did offer to "comp" my meal, which took another 10 minutes. There were so many ways this situation could have been handled better, and a national chain like this one should run like a well-oiled machine.

The food here is always great. Applebee's steaks are really good, but my favorite dish is the Fiesta Lime Chicken. The servers are also very friendly and attentive. In fact, I forgot my credit card and my server ran out of the restaurant to catch us at the stop light. It saved us a trip back and showed that the staff is willing to go the extra mile for customers.
