Athanasios Verras MD

Now that my two are off to college I have to say it is truly a rite of passage to "graduate" from Dr. Verras. With a 22 year old and an 18 year old, it's time to grow up! We couldn't have done it without Dr. Verras. He was there when both were born and no one else has ever handled their healthcare needs. He was always available and always caring and responsive. Truly, everything one could want in a pediatrician. I hope you read this, Dr. Verras. You meant a lot to our family over the years and we will miss you very much. If only the whole medical profession cared as much as you. From our whole family - thank you.

Dr. Verras was my pediatrition when I was younger. I turn 27 next week and my wife and I just had our first child two days ago, while in the hospital my mother ran into him at the elevator and he came up to the room to meet my wife and brand new little boy. Since the introduction he's stopped by our room several times to check in on our baby and our current pediatrition has only been in once. Needless to say, we will be switching doctors next week. Not only is he a great pediatrition, he's a genuine person who really cares about his patients.

This doctor is a rare find! Whoever thinks he or his staff is acting preferentially because of insurance is incredibly mistaken! The majority of his patients are on Peachcare or Medicare. Those who are self pay only have to pay what Medicare would pay for a visit! They even work with you in difficult financial situations. That's awesome!! He is available to his patients nights and weekends - something that is almost unheard of these days. Plus he's there until 7 or 8pm! I'm not his nurse, but I am a nurse and I can really appreciate how hard he and his staff have to work with the amount of patients they see a day. Sick, screaming kids 10 hours a day are not easy to deal with. Dr. Verras specializes in hematology and picks up on a lot of things other physicians wouldn't.

Dr Verras is great, but his staff is the worst extremely rude they make you fell like they're doing you a favor they will not even look at you when you get to the counter also when you call you need to be very specific and don't ask lot of questions they just seem like they don't want to be there they just have to:(. I wasn't working and I am a single mom so I had medicaid and when I took my son for his 4 months check Dr Verras asked the nurse to weight the baby etc guess what was her answer I am already taking care of Ms.. baby she has insurance.. it was a slap on my faceif Medicaid doesn't pay why do you accept it??? anyways the first thing I did when I got a job and a great Group insurance I switched and I wish that Dr Verras will chose a better people to represent his office.

Dr. Verras is the best pediatrician I have ever encountered. He knows his stuff and if he comes across something he is not sure, he will definitely do the research and get to the bottom if it. Dr. John is also a very great doctor. As for the front office, the majority of them are okay and somewhat friendly but for some reason they put the one with the worst attitude at the check in counter. But regardless of her attitude I still would not change pediatricians because Dr. Verras is very knowledgeable and truely cares about his patients.
