I would 100% recommend this dog training company IF you love your dog AND you want to keep it positive and get results. I adopted a shelter dog who needs a ton of work and I just can't say enough... about how Susie, Ji and Mike have helped my dog and me. I love them and their approach. Not only is my dog's behavior improving but they are helping us bond better. I am so grateful to them and love recommending them.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
When I left my teaching job and decided to jump into the dog training profession, I was both excited and anxious at the same time. I didn't know where to begin looking for schools to become a... professional dog trainer. I wanted to find the best place that could provide me not only the theory and strong academic background, but also hands on training to support it. I shopped around and spoke to other students from other schools. What I learned that even among them, the Atlanta Dog Trainer Academy for Professional Dog Trainers was the best in town. Not only did I learn the most recent in animal behavior practices and schools of thought, but I also was able to have hands on exposure to experience those technics in practice first hand under the guidance of an expert. My books were brought to life with my instructor, and I learned a variety of different techniques, methods, and approaches for effective dog training on every level in the academy. Today, I make a healthy income, love my job, and am able to work around dogs everyday, thanks to the Atlanta Dog Trainer Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the Professional Dog Training industry.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

We sent our new german shepherd puppy to board and train. We had a wonderful trainer named Rick that trained her for two weeks. My dog Riley needed some proper training skills that would her to become a wonderful family dog. After picking her up from board and train we were very pleased with the results. Rick was a wonderful trainer and I would recommend Atlanta Dog Trainer to anyone.
We left our 7 month old puppy with Cherry for the 14 day board and train while we went on a 10 day vacation right after having our little girl spayed. We received regular updates inclusive of pictures. The care, love and expertise of ADT and Cherry in particular was exceptional. Our puppy learned an incredible amount in such a short time and had a fantastic time! The key to a well trained animal is to be consistent and continue with the training foundation that Cherry put in place. She has been in constant contact to help us transfer the leadership over to our family. All of our friends have remarked how much calmer and obedient our large breed pup has become. This comes as no surprise to me as Skyler (our puppy) went through puppy training at ADT. We will continue to engage in classes at ADT because this facility has the most incredible staff. Thank you Cherry and ADT!!
We showed up with our 8 month old yellow lab not knowing what to expect out of the 14 day board and train. Cherry was great at spending time with us and being patient. While Bella was with her for two weeks, Cherry kept us informed with updates and pictures. In fact, we were worried Bella was having such a great time she would not want to come home! We picked her up and she did all the commands immediately. After getting her home, we have been confident in continuing her training as Cherry did a great job teaching us how to transfer the leadership back to us. Bella is a new dog! Cherry has also been very accessible to answer any followup questions. Great experience with Atlanta Dog Trainer and Cherry! Brad
I had the opportunity to meet Susie when I attended the Behavioral workshop over two days this past weekend. It was a wonderful experience and Susie was excellent in delivering so much useful information over the two days. I was very impressed with the staff and will be bringing Cody to Doggie Daycare and boarding him on the farm in the future.
I have nothing to say about this experience that I wish to share online. Have requested this post be removed from Kudzu.
It's never easy to get over a major loss; especially when we are not there to say good-bye...Recently, the loss of Marble has been devastating for the entire Atlanta Dog Trainer family as well. We can't imagine the pain you and every member of your family is going through with this loss. We know it hurts. We are suffering the loss with you. Our impeccable track record demonstrates that this situation that was an accident beyond anyone's control. We ADT are leaders in the dog behavioral industry, and are always looking for ways to improve how the dog industry trains both dogs and owners. We not only have a phenomenal family friendly facility, but also have the highest quality control, and state of the art systems regarding safety and training for our dogs. The loss of Marble has been a life changing experience for all of us. At the moment we have dedicated members of our team pulling all the stops on ways we can honor Marble. As you mentioned, dogs like Marble have high tendencies to chase moving objects and put themselves in danger. Although we cannot take over for the natural instincts of a dog or tamper with Mother Nature; what we can do, as per put initial conversation, is to try to modify the behavior. Because of this tragedy, we are taking on the challenge to incorporate in our curriculum a FREE class that teaches some life saving tips for owners of dogs in the community who's temperament are indicative of chasing moving objects. Our goal is to help curtail that behavior..Also in the planning stages we are working on a safety tips guide to be accessed online or mobile, that to will be for free, as an additional measurement for those that do not have time to come to the class. We believe if we can educate more people we can reduce the likelihood a dog is to react to it's natural instincts... We wish we could bring Marble back. The pain you and the family feel is insurmountable. However, by erecting this living memorial in honor of Marble we can; keep her alive in our hearts, and know that we can potentially increase the survival rate of dogs like Marble. This way we can show the world what Marble was about. She was about selfless love and joy! As mentioned, our staff members and myself we truly feel the loss. If there is anything we can do to relieve the pain please don't hesitate to call and ask for me, Susie, at anytime... Everyone on our staff has dogs of their own and understand what it is like to hurt this way. We offer our deepest condolences.
I have been associated with ADT' for 6+ years! Buddy and I took an intermediate obedience group class from Susie many years ago; and her continued interest and sincere concern for Buddy amazes me! I've never met anyone who cares as deeply for dogs as Susie. She's definitely in the dog business for her desire to help dogs, which is evident in her work with rescue groups, many times for free! Now that the dock diving pool is open, Buddy and I will have the opportunity to see her and her wonderful staff more often! Since the grand opening party, we've made use of the pool already and have plans to swim there again this week. Each and every time I've visited Freemanville, the caring staff have been lovingly working with their charges---and enjoying every minute of it, yet made the time to share a kind word with me. Because Susie and her staff are so devoted to the dogs, I will continue to recommend ADT to friends and strangers.
I recently adopted a yorkie and went to Atlanta Dog Trainer seeking help with her behavior. She is a very friendly dog with both people and other dogs but she was destructive in the house. I met with Susie and she was wonderful. She explained everything in terms I could easily understand. One of the things Susie recommended was getting her out to play with other dogs. I work in Alpharetta so I began taking her to their daycare a couple of weeks ago. My dog is a different dog! She isn't destructive anymore and come home exhausted and happy!! She absolutely LOVES going there and the staff is so caring and friendly! You can tell that they truly love the dogs and treat each one as if they are their own dogs! Thank you so much Susie and staff for taking such good care of Fern and for helping me with her behavior.
I have used Atlanta Dog Trainer for years in my rescue efforts. Susie & her awesome team have always accommodated requests to evaluate dogs that were either being turned in to the rescue or dogs who had issues that needed to be addressed. Their "train without pain" philosophy is the only way to go, especially with rescue dogs who may have been through a great deal of stress already. Atl Dog Trainer has also helped out tremendously with owners who have adopted our dogs, whether it's obedience training or understanding behavioral issues. The staff truly loves dogs & their facility is spacious & immaculate. I've learned that training is a form of rescue, in that it provides owners (who may be at their wits end) a game plan with an understanding of WHY their dog is acting out. I'll never use another training facility!
I am sooooo very pleased with the work Diane did with my dog, Bebe! Since Bebe is over 4 years old, I was afraid I may have missed the boat with her training. But I was absolutely wrong! After two weeks of boarding and training, Bebe has an ability to focus and obey like I have never seen before! And consistently maintaining/continuing the work Diane started has been a breeze. I was afraid that, after Bebe's training, I would have to micromanage everything she did and do all kinds of things to keep up her obedience, but Diane really helped simplify things. She walked me through the "how" and the "why" and the "when" for everything, and it's been easy to follow her guidance. I feel like Bebe and I are finally on the same page because I finally know how to respond to her more effectively on HER level. And, more importantly, I feel like I've been able to enjoy her more than ever! Thanks for everything, Diane! It was well worth it!
I recently took the Level One class at the Academy for Atlanta Dog Trainer. What an AWESOME and an enlightening learning experience all the way around! The class covered the aspects of learning theory in how dog’s learn which I found most fascinating. During this class we experienced a tremendous amount of hands-on training through client evaluations as well as some of the general services / training offered by Atlanta Dog Trainer. The hands-on training is what I found most valuable! In addition, there was a lot of reading material through classroom notes and handout material, along with some videos, and recommended reading that really helped to bring everything together for me personally. I was extremely impressed with Susie Aga… her knowledge, skills, experience and overall abilities in this field. Susie is most definitely an expert in not just training dogs but recognizing and understanding the behavior of dogs too! Through all the many resources at our disposal during this class, I have a new and vastly improved understanding of dogs in general… whether its obedience training, reading their body language - stress signals, to being better able to determine a variety of behavioral issues and possible solutions. I hope to be able to continue my education with the other classes offered by Atlanta Dog Trainer in the near future. I would recommend Susie and Atlanta Dog Trainer to anyone and everyone! Thank you!!
I have had the opportunity/pleasure of attending the Atlanta Dog Trainer Academy and completing the three levels of instruction. I was fortunate to have Susie Aga and her excellent staff training, leading, teaching and mentoring us thorough out the various classes (basic through advanced obedience, behavior and aggression issues plus extensive hands on training/applications). We participated in client sessions and once in the advanced training actually worked with clients to prove our skills. Susie is honest about what she is seeing and has great integrity in her training methods. Her years of working dogs, and training numerous teams, shows in her well delivered style of teaching. Susie is able to quickly adapt to each handler and dog, feeling and seeing what each team needs to make progress. She instructs with a play by play narrative while you are working. This allows you to try and catch the behaviors of your dog or handling skills as they are happening. You will be sure to learn a great deal, not only from her personal instruction but the critiques he gives other students as well. I highly recommend Atlanta Dog Trainer Academy if you are interested in becoming a dog trainer.
Diane, I just want to THANK YOU SOOOOOOO much! Maggie is a totally different dog! OMG it's amazing how well behaved she is! We are seriously in shock right now! She's SO calm and sweet & I can go on and on. ALL the bad habits............gone! I promise we will keep working with her. But you are truly amazing! We knew she would be better, but just didn't expect all this! I will refer everyone I can to you guys! Thanks again!
We got our puppy and immediately spoiled her with attention, treats and too much freedom... she is a smart pup and was already starting to show signs of being a puppy "spoiled brat"! Atlanta Dog Trainer was a great decision for my puppy and for our family. Our trainer was at the Cumming location (Sonja), and my pup absolutely loved it! She learned: her name (to heel), sit, down, high five, touch, place, drop it, wait (at the door), off, to sit when greeting people, and is fully potty trained (on multiple surfaces). And, we were sent home with homework to help us to reinforce her training in do-able mini sessions at home. I am completely delighted and impressed with the work (magic) that Sonja did on our little sweetie girl... and without harsh commands or making her too timid (she advocates positive reinforcement). She is truly gifted and I would recommend her to anyone who needs puppy training as a perfect start, or doggy "boot camp" for behavior modification. I could not be more pleased with our experience!
