Impersonal pilates for punishment!
I like many others wanted to start the new year off right by putting myself in a challenging class to workout and get in a good frame of mind..in California pilates was difficult, fun and always left me with a good feeling. This studio[in Vinings] did anything butIt wasn't the pilates that was a challenge, it was the misery of the studio.I bought a coupon for half off but classes are so uptight, uninformed, impersonal and unfriendly that I would pay full price for a year to not go backYes the floor is hot and you sweat a lot but when you leave you're not sure if your sweating more from the uncomfortable vibe and inattentive instruction,or the pilates itself! If you want to start the new year off on the right foot walk away from this studio!

Not the place it was
Having loved this studio for 3.5 years, I’m sad it's no longer the place it once was, a result of It’s heart & soul--Bethany, manager for 8+ years--being recently run out by the owner. However, new & bigger studios next door, class schedule, & convenient MidTown location do still make this studio busy, as it was under previous management.

While the amenities are good, the instructors are, at best, mediocre. Along with Bethany, the owner ran out his best instructors, all of whom subsequently followed Bethany to brand-new Red Hot Yoga in Miami Circle. The remaining instructors are either harmlessly benign--they know the progressions well-enough but are by no means interested or experts--or are rude, as is Jason*.

[*Trained by Bethany, Jason (ironically) knowingly stayed at AHY while the owner drove out managers Bethany & husband Wes. He now teaches a large portion of the classes, his being tight & rather good. Unfortunately, Jason didn’t learn any of Bethany’s upbeat, hospitable manner. Both during & outside of class his obnoxious attitude makes any form of interaction nearly impossible. If you attend his classes, avoid him--he's a "yoga buzz-killer."]

In short, AHY may still check off the list of desired amenities, but the experience itself leaves much to be desired: the energy is bland & the service frustrating & sometimes downright rude. What was once a fantastic studio is now a cash machine for its owner, lacking any real character or charm.

Truly "Namaste"
I started going to Atlanta Hot Yoga about two years ago. It's a great place to learn and practice, for both beginning and experienced yoga students.

In particular, Jason has been a wonderful instructor. His discipline, knowledge, and reverence for the practice, have given me an increased respect for my own practice. His encouraging instruction, instilling calmness and confidence, can often be applied beyond the physical poses, to everyday life. Jason truly demonstrates that Hot Yoga is more than a mere workout - it is a PRACTICE.

If you want a genuine, no-nonsense, down to earth yet highly instructive place to practice, I highly recommend Atlanta Hot Yoga.
