For adoption, fabulous!! For the clinic, no no no
Let me first say my adoption process which has been over a year ago was great. But since times are tough and the AHS clinic is cheaper than most others, I decided to take my dog to the clinic to get her one year shots. WOW what a mistake. I made an appt. for 2pm a week prior and showed up at 145. At 430pm when I still hadn't even been taken back to a room, I went to the receptionist to say I needed to leave and they still weren't able to give me at an approximate time that I might be seen. Now, I understand emergencies happen and all that, but everyone in the waiting room was seen before me and I got there before them all. I really don't know what happened, but I am very saddened by this experience because I do love AHS and would recommend them for adoption ANYDAY. Just not the clinic. Not to mention, the two receptionists were extremely rude. What does it take just to get a little empathy? My job is busy and difficult too, but I still smile at people and try to help them anyway I can.

Best Place To Find A Friend
AHS has been around for decades, and the staff here really cares about the community. You can find more than pets here. Once you adopt a pet (or if you have one already), you can handle it's training, vet visits, and shopping for food and toys all at AHS! It's a great resource for first-time pet owners. They even have bunnies!

Poor Customer Service
The visit began like any other, dogs in the lobby all excited to see each other, but then we got our first taste of the staff. The receptionist started us off with an extremely rude speech about how busy the clinic always is and how they would try and do us a favor by squeezing us into their horribly busy schedule. Then we were told to go and wait in "Exam Room 1" where we waited for fifteen minutes on the vet to come and see us. Dr. Gloria J. Dorsey then came into the room without greeting us and began telling how we have been mistreating our dog by trying to clean his infected ear. She then gave us some quick useless directions on how we should be taking care of our dog, and then she walked out of the room without saying another word. Her assistant, the only person that didn't make me want to walk out without paying, then had to finish the appointment for her. We will never be returning to this vet's office. The only saving grace was the price which was lower than others we've been to recently.

Focus on Adopters
Years ago, we adopted a wonderful dog from AHS and have been supporters for over 12 years. I love seeing their constant improvements, however we have seen a marked decline regarding the volunteers. On 2 recent visits, the staff was uncooperative, not knowledgeable. They made my family feel like we were a nusiance, even though we came prepared to adopt. It is a shame that the animals may pay the price for the volunteers' poor attitude.

Obedience Trianing awesome
I took the beginners obedience training and found it to be really excellent. Mailey really takes the time out to answer questions and make sure that you understand what you and your dog need to be working on.
