this practice has gone down hill
I have gone to this practice for at least 8 years and it has gone down hill. The staff is rude and the doctors have no clue who you are no matter how many times you see them. I saw several different doctors at this practice while I was pregnant and I honestly wish I had gone to a smaller practice where at least the doctor would have taken the time to know my name and not treat me like cattle. I am in the process of looking for a new gynecologist.

Rude and Improfessional Claims/Billing Dept
Stay away!! Their claims/billing department is a mess. They accidentally filed on my old insurance even though I checked in with my new card, and didn't follow up with me on the error for four months. My new insurance was more than happy to reprocess the claim and reimburse them despite their mistake and that it had missed the deadline for timely processing. They refused to file an appeal (5 minute process) and hung up on both me and the insurance. So now United Healthcare is having to involve their legal department. This is for a simple annual checkup that is covered 100% by insurance but I'm now receiving bills in excess of $400. Their office is less than ideal to begin with - cold doctors, parking and traffic nightmares - but the latest is just too much, won't be going back.

Disappointed!!
I've been a patient at AWOG for over 10 yrs & have been content with their service up until recently. Scheduling is terrible! I'm always put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time (that is if someone decides to answer the phone). Communication is poor between staff members regarding patient needs & they don't even validate parking! I've paid them A LOT of $ this year, as my son was born prematurely/emergency c-section & we were both in Piedmont for 3 weeks. The least they could do is validate parking!! I think I'll be looking for a new OB-GYN!

Baby Factory
Each visit during my pregnancy has consisted of less than 5 minutes of face time by the various uncaring OB doctors that make up this practice. I feel like a numbersomeone to be rushed in and out of the office on an assembly line.
I was charged twice for the form fee..when I pointed this out the front desk staff "loud talked" me in front of a lobby full of people. I was so upset that my husband had to drive up from his job to deal with the dispute. The only good thing about this practice are the sweet nurses they seem to care a lot more than the OB's....

YOU'RE JUST A BILLABLE ACCOUNT!
Did you know that you can be dropped from care while you are pregnant? Well at AWOG you most certainly can. I refused to pay a $3k deductible twice, because my baby is due Jan. 13th, and elected to pay my 20% as req. by insurance. This was not good enough and now I am 34 weeks and w/o a physician. THANKS Billing at AWOG.

Atlanta Women's Obstetrics & Gynecology replied on 12-01-2011
Atlanta Women’s Obstetrics & Gynecology, PC strives to always put the needs of the patient first. At times, a patient may be unsatisfied with our practice’s quality, service, and value—which is clearly apparent in this case. When this happens, we feel that it is in the best interest of the patient to have the opportunity to seek care from a practice that they are more comfortable with.

Patients are made aware of our billing policies and their financial obligations on their first visit with us. We feel that it is fair to expect patients to adhere to (instead of refuse) the financial obligations outlined in their insurance policy. We also feel that our policy requiring patients to use a valid form of payment for services is reasonable and typical of all medical practices.

We sincerely apologize for any patient that has had a negative experience with us. Our intent is not that a patient be left with no physician, but that they have medical care and service that they are pleased with. Unfortunately, we are sometimes not able to provide that to all patients.
