We like Austin's. The food is good, the place is clean, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is nice. The steaks are pretty good and the 2 times I ordered the steak, it came exactly as I requested it (no small thing these days!) Hubby liked the fish he had also. Service was middlin'-they try but seems like some of the wait staff are a bit green. Once I ordered the shrimp cocktail, a splurge for us, and the waitress forgot to bring it. By the time we remembered and reminded her, it must have been sitting around and was warm, and they didn't offer to take it back or replace it. Also, for $7.99 the shrimp were pretty small, but that's the only sad story we have. One great thing about this place is they don't push a lot of carbs at you - potatoes are optional, and the "soft bread" is a small, dark loaf; tasty, but you don't fill up on starch, and you can refuse it if you like. They cook some very nice veggies to go w/the steaks, and while there are carb choices, you can avoid carbs if you like and fill up on meat or seafood, salad, and nicely cooked veggies. The veggies taste like they throw them on the grill and are really good. We found the lunch menu to be a savings, as it seemed like about the same meal as dinner for less $$. Anyhow, if you like steak and seafood, give Austin's a try. (Please note-the bar can be noisy at times, so if that bothers you, sit on the other side.)

We went on a Saturday night and their were only five other parties in the restaurant. The server may have been new but there were long delays between courses and errors with our order. We felt that the menu was limited. We didn't care for the Oysters Rockerfeller or the Baked Scallops, however the Steak with Crabcake was very good and the crab legs were nice and sweet. If you are looking for a simple, quiet place then I'd suggest this restaurant.
