Sold a Recalled Crib-Would Not Resolve the Problem
UPDATE: This is NOT a competitor speaking!! My husband and I were truly sold a recalled crib in 12/2011. If we had received any assistance i whatsoever, we would not even be posting a neg. review.
I purchased a crib along with a few of other things from this business. It was a beautiful piece, seemed sturdy, made of solid hardwood, and was a reasonable price. At the time, the customer service experience was nice. Upon arriving home, we realized that the brand name was Simplicity, and that in April of 2010, well over a year and a half ago, all Simplicity cribs were recalled. This very model had resulted in a child's death, and several other injuries. When asked at the store what brand name it was, we were told it was something else. We have tried contacting the store regarding this issue (trying to resolve the issue as if it were a fluke without making a big deal out of this), as it is illegal to sell a recalled item, but we have received no assistance; not a word. It is disappointing enough to be saddled with a potentially lethal item, but even worse that NO ONE is helping us. It should NOT be the consumer's responsibility to distinguish a recalled item in a store from a non-recalled item. You wouldn't go to a grocery store, or any other store, and just 'KNOW' that every single item you purchase is not potentially harmful. I could understand the mistake if we purchased this from a friend, but NOT from a business serving OTHER PARENTS. Now what are we supposed to do?
