I am not at all happy with Banfield. What they do not tell you is that even if you are an existing customer and you made the mistake of buying their pet plan, you will end up waiting for an appointment because they are just so busy, too busy to see your sick pet who they did many tests on and did not come up with the cause of the illness. They will actually tell you to take the pet to an emergency clinic because they are booked up. (and this will cost you, and you are locked into their health plan which will not be honored anywhere else) The lack of responsivemness and lack of good customer service is appalling. I tried to get the meds renewed, since they would not see her until they had an available appointment, and I can't even get help there. I was informed they need 24 hours notice to renew meds. Meanwhile my dog is sicker and there is nothing they will do because they are just so busy

Dr. is a lovely person, up to date on the latest Vet knowledge and I can tell Dr. loves animals. You'll find all the latest Science at Banfield. However, my Dr. was very young and didn't understand the owner's needs count as well as the dogs. Senior dogs need more care than young dogs, I was looking for a more reasonable cost. But I didn't find it here. I spent over $1000 on diagnosing my dog's tumor. They said it was cancer and recommended surgery, and then plastic surgery to close the wound. Dr. had never done this type of surgery before. Long story, but I decided against it. Now a year and a half has passed. My dog's still fine. The tumor doesn't even look like it bothers the dog. It stopped growing. I realize my dog was a lucky one here. I needed a common-sense type of Vet who'd seen this before, someone with lots of experience in the real world. Since my regular Vet sold out to a Vet Chain, VCA, and Vets began to come and go, every time I went there was somebody new, I wanted a Vet who would be around for a few years. Unfortunately, Banfield is one of the chain Vets, like VCA, who changes Doctors a lot. That was a negative factor for me.

Overall, the nurses and desk staff are very nice. However, the vets are cruel. They refuse to put poor, sick, and dying animals to sleep even when they are obviously suffering (barely moving, lost half of their body weight, etc etc). They milk you for all you're worth by guilting you and calling you "horrible" and "bad parents" to the pet, and after running many tests and saying "I don't know what's wrong with the animal", they refuse to euthanize the poor thing. Once upon a time there was a phenomenal vet on staff here, but that time is no longer. We will be finding a new vet after many awful and terrible experiences.

We've been taking our cats to Banfield for nine years. Banfield's wellness plan has saved us a lot of money over time. And, thanks to the regular exams that the plan provides for, when one of cats became terminally ill, Dr. Wilfert caught it in the early stages and put him on a treatment that has extended his life two years so far. Since taking over the practice two years ago, Dr. Wilfert has been building a dependable staff of good people. When several clients come at once, checking in or out can be slow. For the quality of care we get though, I have always been happy to show a little patience!

We used Banfield for years with mixed results for our two dogs and two cats. Depending on the day you can get a great vet or one with little knowledge or bedside manner. Sometimes the wait (even with an appointment) was over an hour, but we put up with all of that for convenience sake (we love having them located inside Petsmart so we can pick up supplies for all our pets while we are there). We are finally ending our relationship with them because for the second time they have given us the wrong medication and they won't take it back or apologize even though it was their mistake both times. I'm giving Banfield two stars because a couple of the doctors and nurses there have been fantastic, but Banfield doesn't seem able to hold on to their best employees and some of the vets and workers have been really sub par. We are going to find a vet with better consistency of service who makes fewer mistakes.
